About this listen
April Frost is a compassionate young woman with a steady job and ambitious goals. But the harder she runs away from her past, the more it threatens to destroy her. When three strangers enter her life, April is forced to face her demons, and it's a battle she may not win. Private investigators in the Breed world are men who take risks, and Reno Cole is no exception. As a Shifter, he's expected to control his inner animal. But lately his wolf has been venturing dangerously close to the city, and he's about to discover why. When Reno is reintroduced to a family friend, the attraction is immediate. April captivates him with her secretive eyes and resilient spirit. She's also in trouble, and despite the fact that she's a human, Reno can't turn his back on her. April is caught between two worlds: One that threatens to bury her dreams and another that could fulfill them. Can she trust the wolf at her door and find the courage to overcome her demons?

enjoyed
enjoyed story. sex episodes were a bit long and detracted from the actual story. at times the voice of April was rather irritating, however I am enjoying the book series.

loved it
I love this story about Reno and April .. it shows that some can be loved without judgement of their past. ...
spoiler .. love how April was not a afraid for Reno wolf but she freak out when a make man was lying on in her bed. also when she put in a difficult situation bedtime judged her apart from Reno who want to know the full story.

a good book to listen to
I enjoyed the story. April did get a little annoying at times. She had been dealt a hard blow in life and deals well with it. The storyline was engaging and it was nice to keep up with other characters in the pack. They are all developing as the stories progress and become a little more three dimensional with each encounter. I love Trevor and felt he could have had an even bigger role.

New author for me and I'm hooked!!!
This is the second in the series and I'm heading into the rest at full tilt! The story is light but with beautiful messy human twists that are written with compassion and humour. There is angst, danger, teasing, emotion, anger, sarcasm, stunning alpha males with cheeky overinflated egos and a gorgeous little six year old that steals the lime light. My one regret? That I didn't listen to this ages ago!!!

Like magnets
What does Nicole Poole bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Brilliant voices, very different from each other.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Full range of emotions.
Any additional comments?
April and Reno are like magnets; they are pulled together by desire, and April pushes them apart continually. Reno is a strong man, brimming with hidden, complex emotions, while April is a strong woman, desperately trying to hide in a weak woman’s guise. I didn’t like April; I found her irritating and thoughtless to those around her, getting herself into trouble and taking the least rational option available. My dislike for the character did not take anything away from the story. I rooted for Reno to get the girl, I sat on the edge of my seat when Sanchez was in play; I even felt sorry for Madox who seemed like quite a decent guy. I love the series and really enjoyed seeing them all in play. I recommend the audio version because the narrator has a vast range of voices.
