About this listen
Successful but shy, Seattle art dealer Mattie Sharpe fell hard for handsome, outspoken, professional adventurer Hugh Abbott. When he broke her heart and returned to his South Sea island home, Mattie vowed she'd only meet him again over her - or better, his - dead body.
When they do meet again, it's over someone else's dead body - and now they're running for their lives through a tropical paradise. Hugh's talking fast to make up for his mistake. Mattie's not listening...until his gentle touch ignites a white-hot fusion, and she gives in. But Hugh's past is catching up with them, and Mattie must stake her very survival on the man she loves - the only man who ever let her down!
If there is a silver lining to a broken heart, Mattie's about to discover it - when love storms back into her life and sweeps her off her feet!

A bit odd, think 50 shades meets pirates of the Caribbean
Can’t put any of into context, very gimmicky and just a bit dull. I think it’s trying to be 50 shades meets pirates of the Caribbean .

Great listen
Read this book years ago and although the Hugh Abbot definitely has some red flags still an easy read/listen. predictable story with HEA. Would have preferred to have had a male voice read also but wasn't a major issue.

Rape, misogyny and a boring main character
I’m actually shocked that this book made it to publication. The main character is dull, everyone always walks all over her and she just never speaks up. The main ‘hero’ is misogynistic and disrespectful all the time. He’s constantly dictating how the main character is meant to feel, what she’s meant to do, how she’s meant to behave and she rarely corrects him. He constantly belittles women and clearly has no respect for them. For me, the worst part was the how the non-consensual sex seems to perfectly acceptable. He basically rapes her in one scene and it’s complete romanticised. What’s worse is every time she tells him no, he ends up getting his way with her anyway. An incredibly uncomfortable listen with some very concerning views on what’s acceptable behaviour.

Romanticised rape
This story has a scene where the romantic lead rapes the love interest (has sex with her while she’s asleep when she’s clearly told him no when awake) and it’s handled as if it was completely acceptable. This book shouldn’t have been published with a scene like that, it’s disgusting. There’s a lot of other sexist themes in this story too
