About this listen

Joey Mancuso’s world is turned upside down when a young man walks into his life, claiming to be his son from a relationship twenty years ago.

Desperate for help, the boy tells Mancuso he’s facing a murder charge for a crime he insists he didn’t commit. Uncertain if the young man is truly his son, but intrigued by the striking resemblance, Mancuso reluctantly agrees to investigate.

As Mancuso delves into the boy’s troubling circumstances, he uncovers deeper layers of deception. Adriana, the boy’s mother and Mancuso's past love is uncovered by him in spite of the boy claiming his mother is dead.

While grappling with this personal challenge, Mancuso’s focus shifts when the same woman, stumbles upon a disturbing secret related to an impending terror attack on New York City. The authorities are initially dismissive, but as Mancuso digs deeper, the looming threat becomes all too real.

With time running out and lives at stake, Mancuso must navigate treacherous waters involving shadowy terrorist networks, high-stakes chases, and explosive revelations. Facing one of the biggest challenges of his life, Mancuso is forced to question who he can trust—and what he must sacrifice to save the city from disaster.

Author Parr, after the success of his prior release, "In the Shadows of the Game," which garnered a Silver Medal by International Reader's Favorite, takes Mancuso and Father O'Brian into a roller coaster of a thriller. Add to that the appearance of a son he never knew existed and the resurgence of his first love, Shredded Veil, promises to be a thrilling audiobook and sure award winner.

Fans of Dennis DeMille, Michael Connolly, James Patterson, and others crime mystery authors, will devour Parr's new release.

Shredded Veil.

Having enjoyed all the joey Mancuso books so far I found this one a bit disappointing. The storyline was OK but seemed to lack Owen Parrs usual flair. There were a couple at least of discrepancies in the story that left me a bit confused. Randy McCarten did his usual brilliant narration and enabled me to complete the book, this has not put me off the series and I hope the next in the series is back to being excellent.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review voluntarily.

Loved the narration of Randy McCarten, who brings the characters, action, drama suspense and twists to your ears.

Mancuso and Father O'Brian find themselves in deep again. A young man walks into Mancuso's life claiming to be his son from a relationship twenty years ago. Also he tells him he’s facing a murder charge for a crime he insists he didn’t commit. While Mancuso investigates he uncovers deeper layers of deception. also stumbles upon a threat to New York City.

Twist and turns.
