Summary

In 1816 London, Kendra Donovan tries to track down a missing man but also finds trouble brewing closer to home in the fifth book in Julie McElwain's riveting time-travel mystery series.

When Kendra Donovan is approached by Mrs. Gavenston with an unusual request - to find her business manager, Jeremy Pascoe, who recently vanished - the FBI agent is eager to accept the challenge. To Kendra's way of thinking, spending her time locating a missing person suits her more than perfecting her embroidery, painting watercolors, practicing on the pianoforte, or any of the other activities that are socially acceptable for young ladies in the early 19th century. Unfortunately, the missing person's case turns into a murder investigation after Kendra finds the man stabbed to death in a remote cottage that he'd been using as a writer's retreat. Everyone who knew him says that Pascoe was a fine fellow. So who hated him enough to kill him?

Seeking the answer to that question plunges Kendra into the world of big business, as Mrs. Gavenston happens to run one of the largest breweries in England. And if there is one thing Kendra knows hasn't changed, it's that big business means big money...and money is always a motive for murder.

Have listened my way through all five books and enjoyed them all. Great mixture of gory crime and danger coupled with delightful descriptions of Regency clothes!! Looking forward to book 6 making it to Audible soon.

Absolutely fantastic!!!

I think this book was absolutely brilliant and kept me gripped from beginning to end! I even stayed up until 4am to finish it!! There are actually two mystery’s in this book that are beautifully entwined together, neither distracting from the other, but just keeping every chapter highly addictive!!
Please don’t stop writing these if book five can be the best yet, imagine what book 10 could be like!!!
This time narration was best played at 1.1 speed and as always every character was brilliantly read.
Bravo!!!!!! To both author and narrator

love these books

I really enjoy these books, don't need to speed up the narration and the voices are so good, easy to distinguish who is talking. I only wish for more of them!

Great story

I still can't stand the narrator, but the story is grasping as always. If it weren't an audio, it would have been a real page turner.

Difficult to turn off.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series and Shadows in time was no different. I do increase the narration speed, to help the story line. This book was everything I hoped it would be. I don’t want to give anything away, but it covered the story, bringing in those we know as her regular allies. Brought some tension, jealousy and anticipation of fights. And has led deliciously into the next book, which I’m eager to listen to. I don’t know what I’ll do when the series ends.
