About this listen

Since detective Nick Lambert pushed his luck a little too far in the line of duty he has been moved to low-level assignments. But Nick has no idea that his first errand to check out an autistic girl who may be linked to a bizarre murder will pitch him into the most shocking and bewildering case of his career. Of any detective’s career.

At its core is a young woman who might just be the most important human being who ever lived – a woman who holds the key to shaping world events. Not just once, but over and over again. From the wastelands of 20th century Siberia to the dark ages of 12th century France, from present-day Los Angeles to a near future in which we see our worst fears realised.

Start doesn't engage but stick with it

Will read it again almost immediately because it is such a good story but also to clarify parts. Probably fell asleep (bedtime listening). Didn't rewind far enough.

Time Paradox unravelled in a gripping plot

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Dawson's use of time paradox is plausible. For those who enjoy time travel stories this one is nicely crafted and thought provoking.

What other book might you compare Sequence to, and why?

'Sequence' might be compared to 'Time and Again' by Jack Finney. Protagonist Si Morley grapples with the unbelievable in much the same way as Nick Lambert does in 'Sequence'. However, unlike Si Morley, Nick Lambert stays in the present grappling to believe the unbelievable, making this plot more immediate and convincing.

Have you listened to any of Lewis Hancock’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

'Sequence' makes the reader think. We all wonder what would happen if we went back in time and changed events. Dawson's plot is woven around this notion.

Any additional comments?

Overall 'Sequence' is a good read. Perhaps not as adventurous as the movie 'Back to Future' it uses notions of paradox in much the same way. The reader is quite able to accompany Nick on his journey towards understanding and enlightenment as Dawson leaves no loose ends in this quite complex and intriguing plot.

TIME TRAVEL....ALWAYS FULL OF THE UNEXPECTED!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, especially if they liked time travel! I was captured by the story line and had to know how it would finish.

What other book might you compare Sequence to, and why?

I can't think of a specific title, but it is an interesting listen. The back and forth of present and past, while at the same time being in the now, is what a good time travel book requires.

What does Lewis Hancock bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I liked the way he read the story. While I enjoy reading a story and giving them there own personality, it can take while before this happens. The narrator was good, and I was able sit back and just enjoy the story, with the character voices and personalities already established.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh and chuckle my way through this story, making it enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

This was a well thought out well read story. The twist and turns keeping you on your toes. This book had all the qualities I look for when picking my next listen.

Wonderful book that really works as an audiobook

What did you like most about Sequence?

Really there's nothing not to like about this audiobook. It's entertaining, excellent storyline(s), well rounded character development, funny, sad, intriguing, unpredictable. I laughed out loud...and had a few moments with 'the hanky' too.

What other book might you compare Sequence to, and why?

I really can't think of another book to compare this one with, but I will be keeping my eye...and ears...out for other books by this author, especially if read by the same narrator.

Have you listened to any of Lewis Hancock’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Lewis Hancock is a new narrator to me...but he is excellent. He's up there with Toby Longworth for me...and he plainly enjoyed the experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted the book to go on for ever...and I wanted to find out what happens too. Listening to it in all one sitting is probably impossible.
