About this listen
Fuelled by a bleak aggressive outlook on life the book centers around a boozy, philandering weekend which is graphically captured by Sillitoe's clever prose and Linus Roache's strong reading.

Ordinary life told in an ordinary style
The actors accent was bit ropey at times and difficult to keep listening to. However story good kept one interested

Abridged
Disappointed The unabridged version was not available on audible and the music is annoying but gave it 5 stars as I enjoyed the story & performance

Good story but misses out a lot
This book being the first proper representation of Working Class life is a brilliant story keeping you interested until the end. The protagonist being neither a hero or villain but just a normal bloke making some bad and some justified decisions.
As I was listening to this and reading a hard copy simultaneously unfortunately I noticed this audio book misses out big chunks of the text which is a great shame!

saturday night sunday morning
I enjoyed the book in essence but it was spoilt by the lenghty jazz music between chapters, seems to go on forever. When i first started listening the music went on so long i thought i had the wrong download! Also i didnt think the narrator was very good at times running paragraphs into each other so it seemed the second paragraph was part of the first so to speak. Could be much better recording for a brilliant book.

Up t’north
A pretty solid interpretation of life in a small northern working class town for a young bloke looking for some sort of excitement.

Accent mastery
Would it really have been so difficult to find s voice actor who doesn’t think Nottingham is in Yorkshire?

Very enjoyable reading
It was a very good reading of the classic novel. The Jazz interludes are a little intrusive, but Linus Roache truly captured the essence of the characters in his exceptional performance, of Sillitoe's timeless masterpiece.
