About this listen
The irrepressible, audacious defence barrister Horace Rumpole is back with seven marvelous stories by John Mortimer. The much loved stories were adapted from his scripts for the hugely popular TV series of the same name.
©1987 John Mortimer (P)2014 Audible, Inc.Critic reviews
"Bill Wallis is perfect as the dry-witted and clever Rumpole... The brilliance of this audio is in the voices Wallis uses to portray each individual, displaying a wide range of dialects and accents so seamless and so suited to each that the listener will forget that only one person is doing the narration. Rumpole's asides, internal meanderings, and quotations of poetry and other commentary are conveyed with the humor they deserve in this thoroughly enjoyable collection." (AudioFile)

For those who enjoy legal trickery and excellent mischievous stories.
John Mortimer’s spectacular wit and elegant sense of humour delivered by a great narrator are a joy to listen to, in spite of this recording’s quality.

Great old school courtroom drama
Wonderfully crafted cases, with great interplay between the chambers’ staff professional and home lives . Sharp dialogue between brilliant charicatures- a great listen for aficionados is Poirot !

Rumpole's Last Case.
The curious and enigmatic world at Chambers are as funny and comfortable as a well known anecdote.
All the usual suspects come to the fore as hoped for and expected, especially the revered, " She who must be obeyed "
The mellow voice and delivery of Bill Wallis provide just the right balance to these well loved stories.
I listened on a plane journey from Leeds to Spain and the time simply flew by.I did find, however, that the flight attendant's drinks service was not so much of an intrusion as usual !
