About this listen

The side-splittingly hilarious new book from Sunday Times bestselling author, rugby icon, and stag do in human form, James Haskell.

It’s 2021 and James is at a crossroads. His glittering international rugby career that took him from England to New Zealand and France – including 77 caps for England – is over. What will he do now? What is his purpose in life?

In Ruck Me, James sets out on a voyage of self-discovery speaking to ex-colleagues, friends and family, reflecting on his career and diving into some of his most memorable personal anecdotes to date. But what started out as a search for understanding and meaning soon turns into a – let’s face it, sometimes warranted – chastisement opportunity with James directly in the firing line. Turns out he has a lot of work to do…

As funny as it is outrageous, this brilliant book acts as a lesson on how (not) to retire gracefully and move forward. And ruck me – you won’t want to miss it.

Excellent

Every time I hear hask speak for a prolonged time it makes me like him more and more. His portrayed personality by the media seems a world away from what he is. Great book, great player, great man

Good but not as good as what a flanker

I really enjoyed this book but it wasn’t quite at the same level as the last one. It did seem to be a little bit ‘ranty’ and contradictory at times. I did find what a flanker a fantastic listen which probably built up my expectations too much for ruck me.

Just brilliant

A great positive book, many things to take away for life. As usual filled with dits and good banter.

Bloody brilliant

What a fantastic book that gives an insight into the life, mind and network of one of Britain’s very best. I am so thankful I listened to this audio book at the time I did and will be grateful for a long time for the honesty and authenticity of Mr Haskell. Refreshing and pointed.

A pleasant honest read

Second book I’ve now read, James is and always will be a marmite & that’s what I love about him. I love he fights what he stands for and won’t allow the cancels to cancel him. Don’t ever change!
