About this listen

Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life, and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows Hector the Real Sadie, and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her. Hector Chavez makes one (huge) mistake: he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes, and Sadie’s got a choice. She can retreat behind her Ice Fortress, or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb. A life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.

About the Creator

Kristen Ashley is the New York Times bestselling author of over 80 romance novels. She’s a hybrid author, publishing titles both independently and traditionally. Her books have been translated in 14 languages and she’s sold millions of books. In March, she released the The Girl in The Woods, the second in her romantic thriller series, Misted Pines. And her latest audiobook is Perfect Together, a second chance romance that will break your heart and then put it back together stronger than before. She also published Too Good To be True, her first-ever murder mystery romance in an episodic format on Kindle Vella. Kristen, born in Gary and raised in Brownsburg, Indiana, and was a fourth-generation graduate of Purdue University. Since, she has lived in Denver, the West Country of England, and she now resides in Phoenix. She worked as a charity executive for 18 years prior to beginning her independent publishing career. She now writes full-time. Although romance is her genre, the prevailing themes running through all of Kristen’s novels are friendship, family and a strong sisterhood. To this end, and as a way to thank her readers for their support, Kristen has created the Rock Chick Nation, a series of programs that are designed to give back to her readers and promote a strong female community. Fantastic performance

Sadie has a great mask but nothing Hector can’t defrost. They are perfect for each other. Brilliant action packed storyline. It has triggers so be warned.

Good fun

Even less believable characters than previous books - but nevertheless, really good fun in its predictability.

Great book. Amazing narration

I was pleasantly impressed with this book. It still has the funny and utterly amusing characters interaction as the other books, with plenty of action and sexy scenes but it also has some more weighty and emotional moments too. It not a “heavy” book but it is somehow less “fluffy” the some of the other books. Susannah Jones is OUTSTANDING in this book. Love, love, love her performance.

Extraordinarily good narration

I always love Kristen Ashley's books but this time the narrator, Susannah Jones, out did herself. There is no other way to describe it other than brilliant. The depth of passion in her performance for a story line that was not comfortable and the portrayal of the caste of characters will probably not get the recognition she deserves.

Lost Opportunity

the bones of the story was good but sadly relied way too much on sex for padding it out, as if written by a teenager. Narrator was good though.

Blooming Heck

Susannah Jones did a fantastic job!
I struggled enjoying the story because of the sheer volume of repetition of words and phrases that were just annoying. Blooming heck. Bizarre. What’s funny? Hiding a grin. Someone tell me he didn’t just say that? The list goes on and on and on.

Additionally I found it hard to connect with the heroine after the beginning of the book, even though she went through something awful. She’s annoying, a bad day is a trauma to her. She has an argument it’s a trauma. I think the author didn’t pay enough respect to the actual trauma of the book, it’s casualness made me deduct a few stars. The fact that everyone and their dog knew someone’s trauma, no privacy, really annoyed me.

I love love Ralphie and Buddy, Bex, Tex, and Blanco. These characters had such loveable personalities, made the book better.
