About this listen

Three 20-somethings are all that stands between an otherworldly threat and the survival of Earth in the latest thrill ride by Dennis E. Taylor, author of the Audible and New York Times best-selling Bobiverse series.

Jack Kernigan is having a bad day...a bad year...a bad life. After being booted out of MIT, he’s back in his Ohio hometown, working for the family business, facing a life of mediocrity. Then one day, out on a delivery, his truck hits...something. Something big...something furry...something invisible. And, it turns out, something not of this Earth.

Fate can play funny tricks. Which is why Jack suddenly finds himself the planet’s best hope to unravel a conspiracy of galactic proportions that could spell the end of the human race. All Jack and his best friends, Natalie and Patrick, have to defeat an alien threat is their wits, a lot of coffee, and a rather snippy AI named Sheldon. Plus, their own spaceship.

After all, if you’re going to rescue the world, the least you can get out of it is your own spaceship.

Poggers tbh

My favourite writer and performer strike again.
The story was really fun as usual and did have me on the edge of my seat for a fair amount of time. Though I have to mention how short the super intense climax of the story was jarring compared to the longer buildup, had me expecting a little more.

Roadkill

Tongue in cheek SF adventure that was thoroughly enjoyable. Notable grains of truth emerge throughout the story that makes the listener question actual reality regarding the world we live in today. I won’t go into specifics, I’ll let you come to your own conclusions.

Amazing fun and a great story.

A fun trio, two alien species in earth, and a sassy sentient AI. What more could you want?
If you know Taylor you know what you're getting into, and this doesn't disappoint; if you don't then this is a perfect toe in without committing to the big series.

The start of a good series

Has been really hard to find something to listen to since the end of ExForce but after a few poor substitutes this hits the spot. Taylor’s Bobiverse trilogy was quality and this although not quite that good is a decent first book in hopefully a series. It looks like Guppy and Skippy have had a love child in Sheldon, a character that really adds a lot to the story.
There’s humour, a fair plot and although we’re talking about the end of the world here not the amount of blood, gore and death you seem to get in book after book at the moment.
Good story and great narration, looking forward to book 2 🤞…or another bobiverse book
