Summary

Join one man's quest to become an immortal tank...

Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. Being immortal—that was his first Goal ever, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days.

Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so.

But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one.

Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, his journey toward immortality begins.

It's time to get hard in the action-packed and often hilarious Rise of a Tank LitRPG Series, starring the unforgettable and eccentric Harald Stone!

About the Series: Expect a focus on building a true tank throughout. Heavy game elements and crunchy numbers are present, but actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable.

Silly series name, highly enjoyable book

The cheap joke of the title almost put me off this book, but luckily it didn't as the book itself was an entertaining start to the series with some interesting world-building and characters laying a strong foundation, the author opting for non-human races for the ingame part of the book also makes for a difference from many in this genre.

Some people may not be keen on the main character as he tends towards being overly bombastic in both his internal monologue and his actual speech, while also being overly manipulative at times too. However, it does come across as semi-ironic at times and he is fine if you do not actually take him too seriously.

The overall performance of the narration was a strong one with the main character being brought to life well and the supporting cast were all suitably distinctively voiced as well.

Overall, a strong opening to this series and I'll be interested in seeing how it progresses in the future.

I listened to it all but..

It wasn't for me. I struggled to follow it, I kept getting distracted which doesn't happen on a good listen. It keeps you engaged and wanting more. Not sure I will move onto the next book, maybe when I run out of things to listen to.

Strong personality’s

I thoroughly enjoyed this book it’s a great listen if you’re bored or really in any mood, this is very entertaining because of the real life and in-game aspects of the book. Another reason is the different races in this game that he plays which is a nice change for the usual human only race, also the progression of the races escaping there starter village/area is quite fun even though you only get to see the mc doing this with whatever his race is called. Overall this book is a very good read I highly recommend this to any reader with is into LITRPG and magical fantasy books it is a mixture of this and real life in the future which is a extra price of storyline as to not get bored.
