About this listen
Laura Holt goes home to Cactus Creek to care for her ailing father whose health is failing after years of drinking. She’s longed for her desert home for 14 years. To her surprise, her childhood infatuation with Logan King has not faded as much as she thought. But Logan is struggling with problems of his own after losing his first wife in a fire, and her father wants her to marry the saloon owner, although Laura doesn’t. As the situation worsen, Laura finds herself going to her favorite fishing spot by the creek to find peace, but it’s still Logan’s favorite place, too.

Logan's second chance!
I am loving this series! Each book stands alone, but if all are read in order, there is a character building and crossover from book to book. This one features Logan. We met him before, and heard what he had dealt with as he matures and becomes the mayor of Cactus Creek. Married to Bernice, he had a loveless marriage, but her death hit him hard. Now alone, he needs to pick up the pieces of his life. Laura has returned to Cactus Creek to take care of her dying father. An alcoholic, he will do what he has to to get his next drink, so selling his daughter to relieve his own debt could be his answer. But when things don't go his way, he learns he must deal with his nemesis, Logan. Logan is sweet on Laura, and out of the kindness of his heart, Logan takes on the problems and works on winning the heart of Laura. But is he ready? His past comes to haunt him, his feelings are muddled, but with guidance, he is searching for his way. We also get peeks of Alex the sheriff as he is faced with family issues and a woman who has stolen his heart. This is a fun listen, like coming home to the old west and falling into their story.
Douglas Birk and Jennifer Groberg continue their narration of this town and their voices work together perfectly. Each finds the essence of their characters and let me enjoy the small town as life once was. They have become Cactus Creek for me and I am so glad they have continued the characters and the continuity of voices from book to book. It's a pleasure to hear.

Christian Historical Romance
Christian Historical Romance
There are many high points and low points in this double romance. Kidnapping, falling in love, catching your brother do terrible things, and getting married are just a few to name. But God can be trusted through it all!!
Great job on the narration!
