About this listen

Trace Rivers only ever wanted to be one thing when he grew up: a firefighter. Luckily for him, he has four older brothers who wanted to be ranchers like their father. His parents were okay with their youngest being a firefighter. They just wish he didn’t feel the need to do so in a completely different state. Wanting to get away from the overbearingness that his family could be, he decided to accept a job in Sulfur Springs Wyoming.

Hawke Knotts life is a lie. For his entire life, he grew up believing Denver was his brother. Oh how wrong he was. At the insistence of a close friend, Denver comes clean about just who he is because after a manipulative ex-girlfriend drove Hawke away from their home, he fears he may lose him forever. Can Hawke ever forgive Denver for deceiving him?

When one of Hawke’s high school friends suggests he swing by the firehouse to say, "hi", little does he know that the probie is about to introduce him to Lieutenant Trace Rivers, his direct boss. Never before has Hawke been so enamored with a man at first sight. Not even his boss’ husband, Logan. But will Trace and Hawke be able to see where their mutual attraction goes? Or will a vengeful arsonist destroy their developing romance? Can Trace rescue Hawke in time when his life is put in danger?

Rescuing My Angel is the second audiobook in the Sulfur Springs series. This is a Men of Crooked Bend spin-off, but it isn’t a requirement that you listen to that series to enjoy this one. Familiar faces will be seen, but this series takes you off of the ranch and into the lives of those in Sulfur Springs. While each audiobook will focus on a different couple and may be enjoyed as a stand-alone, you will receive maximum enjoyment listening to them in order. Each audiobook contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over the age of 18.

Hawke

Hawke has been looking at Logan with hearts in his eyes for a long time. But Logan has married his boss Rhett so he needs to focus on some one else. Except he doesn't like guys his own age. He is more into an older guy. What he doesn't know is that he has an admirer across the street in the form of a hunky fireman who secretly calls him angel. Trace is done with hook ups and looking for someone who he can care for and love and he has set his eyes on Hawke. With a lot going on in Hawke' s life he wonders what Trace sees in him but Trace is patient and doesn't want to scare the young man away. When disaster strikes they both realise what they could have lost and finally they realise they need each other. A lovely story and well narrated by the talented Kenneth Obi.

Rescuing My Angel( Sulfur Springs book 2) by Taylor Rylan. I really enjoyed this story. A good combination of world building and character development. I can't wait for the next book.
The Narrator Michael Dean did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.

Protective Love

Rescuing My Angel is the second book of the Sulfur Springs series, and I recommend reading the first book in the series first before reading this one. This book is a contemporary romance filled with drama and danger. I enjoyed this book more than the first book since it centered around tropes I enjoy. There was the protective-trope and the age-gap-trope—tropes I am a big fan of. The drama and romance was a little bit cliched but I still enjoyed it.

The audiobook was narrated by Michael Dean who did a great job with performance. The audiobook production was well done and overall an enjoyable listening experience.

as great as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Michael Pauley is one of the 8 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Patchy writing

The narration is great as you'd expect, but the writing is patchy - some scenes are under developed and others are over written and boring. I wasn't as invested in the story as I wished. In the end, it was too wishy-washy for me to want to continue with the series.
