About this listen
Kaiden Moore is on the run.
A fugitive in both real life and the game world of Nova Online, his only hope is to follow the trail of virtual breadcrumbs left behind by Bernstein, the man whose murder Kaiden was framed and jailed for.
The data Bernstein gathered may be the only way to expose the corruption of the Party and finally clear his name.
With a new ship and crew of their own, Kaiden, Titus and Zelda will travel to the furthest reaches of Nova Online and push their classes to the limit to defeat threats intended for players much higher level than them. Humanoid insects, veteran gamers, dark turen and even the Warden Corps stand in their way.
But freedom is worth fighting for.

Excellent LitRPG sequel
Very fun second entry in the series. Much longer than the first, with a bit more in the world outside the game this time, but it flew by and I had a great time reading and listening.

Best Book
This is a good book, different from much else, definitely litrpg. The narrator is a little hard to hear sometimes, but else he is good

Better than the 1st, but an underwhelming 1st half
1 thing you CAN'T say about this book is that there aren't enough fights. I would dare say there were a bit too many which is why it's twice as long as the first book. I honestly didn't much care for the RTS fight, for whatever reason it didn't hook my interest and I just passively listened to that part. Some of the other fights were quite engaging, just at times it got a bit too same-y and repetitive.
I was disappointed by the rebel portion of the story which is about the first 1/3 of the book. I feel like a lot more could've been done with that group. Maybe it would've added more depth if it was found that they were doing business with gangs (which they probably were but not really touched on). And the sequence of events up to the middle wasn't particularly noteworthy in my opinion.
Onto story criticisms. I have to say, the story & progression (& to a degree the fights) seem to rely a bit too much on Zelda. She serves as the basic encyclopedia of the game, strategist, plot driver with conflicts mainly revolving her and also manages to be the main damage dealer of their party. It's a bit much. The longer it went on the more I felt like Kaiden was just being taken for a ride since he barely contributed to the progression of the story.
On to that point, Kaiden is a bit too much of a blank protagonist. In the first book I've criticised his weirdly naive, calm & hopeful character considering he was framed for murder with what was told to be a public trial where no one believed him and was then sentenced a long prison sentence. And then in here, like I said, he was just being taken for a ride by the plot instead of driving it. So much so that at times his pondering of questions annoyed me since it didn't lead to anything most times. Just meant to rehash some points of the moment. He had no agency other than to get to the next plot point it seemed.
I did however liked Tytos(?) part of the story. With the gangs and such. Although simple it did it's job well in my opinion.
