Summary
She broke his heart right before prom. They haven’t kept in touch since. Until a matchmaking friend brings them back together…
Brad left his hometown right after graduation, unable to stay knowing Mary had chosen his friend Jim before he could confess his feelings to her. Since then, he’s worked hard growing and building his construction business. He thought the past was behind him. Now, he’s back in town for her sister’s wedding, and he just wants to make it through the weekend without a fresh dose of heartache.
On the heels of her break-up with her ex, Mary is ready to embrace her own sexy independence. What better way than with her grade-school crush? Gone is the lanky, shy Brad she knew in school, replaced by a gorgeous, confident man... who seems hesitant to get to know her again.
Thanks to their matchmaking friend, they’re forced to face the painful misunderstandings from their teenage years. Will the secret crushes they once had give them the second chance at romance they both crave?

Well narrated second chance romance
This book is second chance romance, friends to acquaintances to lovers story. It was a little lacking in my opinion as the two protagonists unraveled their emotions and accepted their feelings for each other. The story is easy to listen to but also quite slow and gentle in its progression as it slips between the present and the past, tying them together. The story follows the natural ebb and flow of life, which is perhaps what I found a little lacking but that does make it more realistic. The two narrators are easy to listen to as they are able to capture the essence of the main characters in their performances. I did enjoy the audiobook overall, but it wasn't exceptional for me.

Reckless Heart: Second Chance Romances Book 2
🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧
That was delightful! Short, sweet, and full of heart and a perfect introduction to this author’s work for me! I’ve already put This Time Around on my TBR!
There’s a nostalgic vibe to the story that makes you think back to your teenaged years and crushes because the story is relatable and organic. There’s nothing really not to like except of course I prefer a different POV, but that’s not the author’s fault LOL
I love Troy Duran so of course I enjoyed his narration and Devon Grace is new-to-me with this audiobook but I’ll be looking out for more from her for sure!!

Brad and Mary!
Mary was friends with Brad when they were in high school and wanted more but she didn’t know how to tell them which ended up hurting them both. Years later he is back in town for a friend’s wedding, but will this be their second chance or are they destined for heartbreak once again?
Brad was hurt by Mary’s actions so he even though he is cautious she has always been the one girl he couldn’t have. When they spend time together feelings between them develop however first they must overcome the past.
Brad and Mary let misunderstandings come between them in the past but now that they are older they realize how special what they share truly is even is they had some missteps along the way. I enjoyed the performance by the narrators as you could feel not only their love for each other but their insecurities as well.

Moving
The course of love never runs smooth. A crush that starts in childhood. In trying to force a move, it sets back a friendship so deeply that it takes over a decade to repair. Sweet, moving, powerful. This was worth it.

Not my cup of tea
Devon and Troy did a fantastic job narrating a story I really didn't gel with.
I don't know whether it was the disjointed feel of the story, the third-person perspective or because I have been spoiled for choice when it comes to amazing audiobooks but I just didn't enjoy it. However, I'm sure there will be others that do.
Would highly recommend these narrators, their voices alone encouraged me to finish this book.
