About this listen
Number one Sunday Times Bestseller
Best-selling author Tom Bower reveals the making of a monarch – King Charles III
King Charles faces many challenges as he succeeds his mother to the throne. Despite his hard work and genuine concern for the disadvantaged, King Charles III has struggled in the past to overcome his unpopularity. After Diana’s death, his approval rating crashed to 4% and has been only rescued by his marriage to Camilla.
In unearthing many secrets and dramas surrounding King Charles, Bower’s book, relies on the testimony from over 120 people employed or welcomed into the inner sanctum. The result is a book which uniquely probes the character and court of Charles that no one, until now, has seen. It offers an unrivalled and intimate look at King Charles, his many years as heir and how a monarch was made.

If true...
If true...Really fascinating look into the life of the royals. Would have preferred an actor reading this audiobook.

Fascinating insight into Prince Charles post Diana
I’ve listened to a few Audible titles about Prince Charles, and this one certainly does not disappoint. Tom Bower is an accomplished biographer and he is obviously scrupulous in his research.
I have listened to this book a couple of times and am still learning and taking in new information. It is detailed and very interesting.
I would highly recommend this audiobook, not only to fans of the Royal Family, but to anyone who is fascinated by the structure of modern day social media and the politics of Great Britain and of our newscasting and presentation/reporting.
I like and admire Prince Charles and I found this book to be frank, straightforward and even brutal in parts, but it gave an excellent insight into his character and his ambitions for himself and for his family.

Should be compulsory
The story is absolutely fascinating and the insight into Charles, Diana and Camilla needs to disseminated to all.
The narrator is not the best. Hard to concentrate on and understand when there are noises in the listening background.
Should give it a go.

An amazing insight
Really glued to this, brilliant portrayal of royal life which left me totally certain it’s all true. Not much appears to have changed since medieval times as far as royal intrigues and machinations are concerned but these days thanks to great writers like Tom Bower we peasants all get to hear about it!!!

Excellent and fair account of a difficult subject.
Excellent material, delivered brilliantly. Very insightful and informative, the steps taken to gain views across the board makes the book an even better "read". This was my second listen and probably won't be my last.

Much more impressed than I thought I would be
I was in two minds about buying this book, thinking it would be another lot of spin but I have been very impressed by the detail and research that has been done. Lots of verifiable detail rather than random anecdotes as some of the Charles and Diana type books available.
It has certainly made me very concerned about Charles’ ability to rule as king and even more about Camilla and her role. I am certainly not a Diana fan and have always felt sympathy for Charles in this saga but now I have real doubts about the Monarchy once we lose our wonderful Queen.

Facinating
Well presented, and easy to listen to Peter Noble's voice. I couldn't help wondering if I knew anybody who would have made a better job of it - being a modern Prince of Wales. Nor why we are so naive as to think that our leaders will not have our own faults in Spades! Annonimity or Princeling? I know which I would choose. But then neither have a choice!
We should remember when we point a finger at another, that we have three pointing back at us.

Arrogant Charles
Well just finished this book & I’ve never been keen on Charles anyway but after this book even less now . He cheated & Camilla just wouldn’t leave him alone . Both bad as each other . Poor Diana . Loved that the queen didn’t accept Camilla & why would she . Charles is very arrogant & selfish & money oriented. Let your son be king , no one wants you to be king anyway . Enjoyed the book & learnt things I never knew 👍🏼
