Editor reviews

Rascal The Dragon: Collection 2 brings together a set of stories by Australian children's writer Paul Jennings about a stray dragon and his friend Ben.

In "Rascal at the Show", Rascal gets fleas and needs a bath before entering a show competition. In "Rascal and the Cheese", the dragon befriends a mouse and steals cheese from Ben’s dad. And in "Rascal and the Hot Air Balloon", Rascal chases a hot-air balloon even though he’s forbidden from flying by Ben.

The simple vocabulary of these stories, combined with Rebecca MacCauley’s facility with character voices and the sprightly music that accompanies the narration, make this story a natural fit for listeners between ages three and six.

Critic reviews

"Effortlessly satisfies the perpetual, pleading mantra of teachers everywhere for 'high interest, low ability' reading books ... the author manages to write a short, satisfying twist in every one." ( Magpies Magazine)
