About this listen
From the iconic and best-selling author of The Mummy and The Vampire Chronicles, a mesmerizing, glamorous new tale of ancient feuds and modern passions.
Ramses the Great, former pharaoh of Egypt, is reawakened by the elixir of life in Edwardian England. Now immortal with his bride-to-be, he is swept up in a fierce and deadly battle of wills and psyches against the once-great Queen Cleopatra. Ramses has reawakened Cleopatra with the same perilous elixir whose unworldly force brings the dead back to life. But as these ancient rulers defy one another in their quest to understand the powers of the strange elixir, they are haunted by a mysterious presence even older and more powerful than they, a figure drawn forth from the mists of history who possesses spectacular magical potions and tonics eight millennia old. This is a figure who ruled over an ancient kingdom stretching from the once-fertile earth of the Sahara to the far corners of the world, a queen with a supreme knowledge of the deepest origins of the elixir of life. She may be the only one who can make known to Ramses and Cleopatra the key to their immortality - and the secrets of the miraculous, unknowable, endless expanse of the universe.

I love Anne Rice books but this one was spoilt by the reading style of the narrator.

Poor narration
I’ve read and enjoyed all Anne Rice books.
This is the First one I’ve listen to.... what a shame ?!
Started well... then the screeching, and the pronunciation of the word passage well really...! Will not be listening to this narrator again very irritating.

One of the worst books I've heard.
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is one of the worst books I ever listened to, I managed to get a couple of hours into it but it felt as though it brain was being grated.
What was most disappointing about Anne Rice and Christopher Rice ’s story?
Didn't flow and the reader made it irritating,
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I think it was the rhythm of speech
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra?

Disappointed
This was totally ruined by the narrator's scenery chewing performance. Overpronouncing every word and wallowing in overdramatisation. (Cleopaaaaaaatra)
I had to stop listening after a while as it was making me angry.

I usually love Anne Rice but couldn't follow this one at all.
I struggled with the narrator as she talked very slowly and often quietly. the story jumps about and was very hard to follow
