Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

This isn't a parenting book.

This isn't a guide to being a perfect parent (spoiler: they don't exist)

This is a book about you.

We can only anchor, nurture, nourish and instill confidence in our children when we extend the same support to ourselves. After all, how can we effectively tend to our children's needs when our energy reserves are depleted? How can we lead by example and teach our children the importance of healthy self-esteem if we are struggling with these things ourselves? There are a thousand and one ways to parent, and only one way that's authentic for you.

Drawing on her work as a psychotherapist, alongside her own experiences as a mother, Anna shows that caring with our children begins with caring for ourselves, and it's time to replace exhaustion with empowerment. Far from being selfish, self-care is an essential quality of a happier mother good parent. The greatest gift you can give to to yourself and your children, is to give yourself permission to thrive.

Anna does it again!

Yet another FAB title to encourage personal growth and respect in the minefield that is Motherhood.
Anna has a fantastic way of collaborating all of the best words, thoughts, and theology together to really make you think. Tackling so many unspoken situations that are so heavenly present in day to day life as a parent. Helping us unpack our own fantasies to be encourage us to be happy, self respecting and kind on my own personal growth journey.

therapy

This book was a very insightful read. The author talks about comparison, perfectionism, and self-talk throughout the book.
How at ease you feel when someone explains how exactly you feel and why that you feel in that way.
I feel like I've had a personal therapy session after reading this book.

Would recommend this book to all mother

Game changer

There were so many helpful pointers, examples and coping mechanisms in this book. I’ve listened to several books about being a Mum and a parent but never really found one that spoke to me, until now. I’m so glad I read this.

Lovely, compassionate book for all mums

I loved this book - both as a mum of 3 and a clinical psychologist who specialises in parental stress and burnout. Anna's voice accompanied me on my daily walks; soothing me, encouraging me and more than once moving me to tears. This book will help you breathe a deep sigh of relief; you're not the only mum who finds this parenting lark hard. Many of us are feeling knackered, lonely, self-critical, anxious, grumpy and guilty. Anna talks you through the myth of the perfect mum and how it harms us all. She gives real life examples from her clients and her own life and tips on improving your own mental health and finding more joy in motherhood. 100% recommend.

Validating and refreshing

A book can you listen to all the way through or check in and out of. I listened to this every night before bed and it really helped reduce my anxiety and the points in the book resonated with me throughout the following day! Definitely recommend!
