Summary
After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of 15, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young - particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own. Unfortunately Eric learned the hard way that quality time doesn't always show up in quantity time.
Facebook, television, phones, video games, school, jobs, friends - they all got in the way of a real, meaningful father-son relationship. It was time to take action.
As a SEAL, Eric learned to innovate and push boundaries, allowing him to function at levels beyond what was expected, comfortable, ordinary, and even imaginable, and he knew that as a father he needed to do the same with his son. Meeting extreme with extreme was the only answer.
Using a unique blend of discipline, leadership, adventure, and grace, Eric and his SEAL brothers will teach you how to connect and reconnect with your sons and learn how to raise real men - the Navy SEAL way.

Perfect narrator
I must say it took me a few chapters to get over the narrators delivery style. I literally burst out laughing at the anecdote about the bunny farm.
Once I did though, I was so glad I did.
Can’t recommend this book enough for any father

Benefits od reading
I managed to go through this book twice. In the meantime my kids grow up older and now I can implement more stuff that I hear here. I’m not any special force guy saving the world but a office worker who’s trying to get the best out of any time I spend with or without my family. This book gives me some new ideas of how to develop myself and teach about my experiences my kids. Bonding effect included.
I Olson think that this book is great for all moms out there especially single moms to develop their kids to be resilient to this world.
I’m going to read this third time, only this time I’ll be taking notes to get most out of it.

fathers
its a very engaging book which draws lessons from his time as a navy seal and tries to make parebting principles from that. i dont think it follows over very well as parenting is more then regimentation, risk assesment and action action action however the stories and advice do motivate you to be better so its worth while listening.

Great book. Great practical advice to stepping up!
I really enjoyed the book. The contents and the direction a the book gives you with advice on how I to think and tackle situations in a different way are very pertinent. It took some time to get use to the animated voice of the person reading the book. Once that hurdle was over come I settled into hearing the advice that was being given.

The contents of the book is good and well written however the narrator is very cringe with a tone of voice that I just couldn’t carry on listening to so I had to stop the book

Action movie trailer?
With all due respect to Mr Davis’ outstanding achievements and contributions to his country, I found the action movie trailer reading style too distracting to get past the initial chapters (hence 3 stars). I may try the Kindle version instead.

Decent book w/some good questions for reflection.
Some extreme examples, such as throwing the son's PlayStation into the pool and making him get it again, in Cali-winter.
It was a bit difficult at times to know when it was the author himself describing something or a story from someone else.
Each chapter ends with a series of questions for reflection, which are quite good.
Didn't really connect with the narrator.
