great book. should've left ragnar out of the title

the book is bursting with information and facts about everything to do with vikings but there was only a small section about ragnar however it was a really good read teaching of the norse mythology and cosmology and famous vikings such as ragnar, floki, roll and ALL of ragnars sons.

Poor narration

Story was fine but the narrator had all the soul, rhythm and pronunciation of an early sat nav. Painful.

This was an exciting listen for us. Author relates interesting history & facts well without a lot of extraneous verbiage

Shocking

I really enjoyed reading this book and learned many things from it. First the learning: pretty much all I knew about Vikings came from movies, so most of this was new to me. I was shocked by the brutality of the culture. A must-listen.

Misleading title

Misleading as very little of time is about Ragnar.
Basically ally a potted history of the Nordic nations and their relationships with each other and the rest of the world.
Still, found it interesting but the vocal performance could have been more engaging.

Was cheaper at time of purchase to buy Kindle version and then whispersync, rather than using a credit. Glad I did not pay full price.

Recommended

Wow! I feel like I have caught a glimpse of an epic tragedy, a larger-than-life character who deserves his own Hollywood blockbuster. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the slightest interest in Norse culture or the Viking Age.

Good stories

I love the stories. The Vikings prided themselves on strength and athletic ability and were disgusted by weakness!
Great book! Well done!

Good

For the book itself, I found the stories well narrated and nicely written. It is difficult to write 'history' when only thin written references are available. Having been a fan of the Vikings tv series, it was fun to get a better handle on the chronology, the sagas and the lineage. Enjoyable book!
