Summary
Amaliya Vezorak never believed in happy endings....
When Amaliya harnessed her necromancer powers to defeat her greatest enemy, she believed she had finally found a happy ending with Cian, her lover and the master of Austin. That happiness is short-lived when the vampire ruling over San Antonio attempts a takeover of Austin in order to capture Amaliya and use her power for his own devices.
To make matters worse, Samantha, Cian's ex-fiancée, is seeing ghosts, the untested vampire hunters of Austin are running scared as a supernatural war looms, a mysterious man is hunting Amaliya with the help of her one time lover, Pete, and Racho?, the Summoner's favorite progeny, appears to be out for revenge.
When Amaliya's grandmother, a powerful medium, experiences terrible visions that reveal there is another necromancer vampire and she is crying out for help, Amaliya realizes happy endings do not come easily....

Fairly average to be honest.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The actions of the main characters family members would be what I'd change. They charge off with a plan that just wasn't believable to me, and trusting someone with a story that sounded to good to be true. Not to mention not even considering to ask the MC what she wanted. This got covered by convenient lack of cell service so they couldn't talk to her. They were on the road for hours and I'm sure Texas is not that lousy for cell coverage that they would have zero coverage for the whole trip. They even had rather weak reasons they could not use a landline, and no mention of looking for a payphone on the trip.
Would you recommend Pretty When She Kills to your friends? Why or why not?
Not really. Story had too many flat spots where it didn't seem to be going anywhere. I think that for me the reason was that the book was short but had many characters in different locations. This meant that it all felt a bit weird on time line and not enough time for each character group to really shine or have a decent plot point.
Have you listened to any of Kristin Allison’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listened to a couple of hers. Her character voices and acting was fine, but I really wasn't a fan of her narrative narration. She delivers it all pretty flatly and too quickly as well I thought. And I didn't understand why. She was fine with the voices but did very little changes of pace in the narrative, which makes the narrative feel flat and dull.
Was Pretty When She Kills worth the listening time?
Just about. It's not bad, it's not good. Fairly average really and not the authors best work in my opinion.

Audiobook gold
This book is a fantastic follow up to the first book. New characters and threads develop to make this an engrossing listen. People die and it is merciless!

Good Sequel
As a sequel to Pretty When She Dies this book had plenty of action, suspense and surprises, it was almost as enthralling as the first book, but plenty to keep it enjoyable and keep me listening. Amaliya was every bit the 'take no prisoners' heroine, but Cian was more stubborn and bull-headed in this book, which left me feeling very frustrated! Along with the 'good intentions' of her family who never seemed to consider whether their actions were in Amaliya's best interests or not, I felt there should have been more interations between the characters. Overall it was an enjoyable book and I definately want to listen to the next book. The narrator Kristen Allison was pretty good and easy to listen to.
