About this listen
The game is called Beatie Bow, and the kids play it for the thrill of giving themselves a scare. It’s Beatie Bow, risen from the dead!
When Abigail is drawn in, the game quickly changes from a harmless little scare to an extraordinary adventure, as she is transported to a place that is strangely familiar....
And in a Sydney she barely recognises, she’ll meet the real Beatie Bow and the family that will change her life.

One of my favourite books
Would you consider the audio edition of Playing Beatie Bow to be better than the print version?
I have read the print version half a dozen times and loved it. The audio version is good because it helps to create the various accents which I could not hear in my head when I read the book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Granny Is my favourite character because she is warm and loving, she holds her own family together and she shows kindness and understanding as she helps Abigale to find strength and maturity to deal with her own challenges.
Which character – as performed by Kate Hood – was your favourite?
Judah Bow
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and when I got to the end I wanted to start again
Any additional comments?

Squeaky
An enjoyable book and the performance is mostly good, except for kid's dialogue where the va goes very squeaky and loud, which hurt my ears since I listen with head phones. I also feel like a lot of the dialogue, as written, isn't actually as bellicose and confrontational as the va thinks. A lot of neutral lines are read as if the character is outraged. There's enough surliness in the dialogue that you don't really have to add it. Let our ears rest every now and then. A lot of it sounded like English dub anime and not in a good way. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish the book but it wasn't great either.
