Summary

Play the man. Make the man.

Somewhere along the way, our culture lost its definition of manhood, leaving generations of men and men-to-be confused about their roles, responsibilities, and relationships and the reason God made them men. It's into this "no-man's-land" that New York Times best-selling author Mark Batterson declares his mantra for manhood: Play the man.

In this inspiring call to something greater, he helps men understand what it means to be a man of God by unveiling seven virtues of manhood. Mark shares inspiring stories of manhood, including the true story of the hero and martyr Polycarp, who first heard the voice from heaven say, "Play the man". Mark couples those stories with practical ideas about how to disciple the next generation of men who will put God first, family second, and career third.

This is more than an audiobook; it's a movement of men who will settle for nothing less than fulfilling their highest calling to be the men and the fathers God has destined them to be.

No one thought me how to be a man

We can't use that excuse anymore. In this book we now have a great opportunity & roadmap on how to partner with God to bring up exceptional sons & daughters. We need more books like this & most of all, the courage & perseverance to execute this in Jesus name. Amen

Invaluable Guidance for Fathers and men

Easy to listen and understand, yet refreshing and thought provoking ideas and concepts about the seven virtues of manhood; calling forth the man in your son; the real role of the real church...

I especially enjoyed where the author shared some details about the discipleship covenant and rite of passage he designed for his sons.

I generally find american accents slightly leas pleasant to listen to, but nevertheless, I could hear passion and enthusiasm and sometimes urgency in the voice of the narrator (also author). And the Audible App alows you to vary the playback speed to your liking.

Brothers, friends, it was a blessing to me!
