Summary
The Stories Behind the Series
Though perhaps most famous as a novelist, Philip K. Dick wrote more than one hundred short stories over the course of his career, each as mind-bending and genre-defining as his longer works. Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams collects ten of the best. In "Autofac," Dick shows us one of the earliest examples (and warnings) in science fiction of self-replicating machines. "Exhibit Piece" and "The Commuter" feature Dick exploring one of his favorite themes: the shifting nature of reality and whether it is even possible to perceive the world as it truly exists. And "The Hanging Stranger" provides a thrilling, dark political allegory as relevant today as it was when Dick wrote it at the height of the Cold War.
Strange, funny, and powerful, the stories in this collection highlight a master at work, encapsulating his boundless imagination and deep understanding of the human condition.

Classic sci fi in a 1950's setting.
Really enjoyed most of these short stories. Slightly dated now as in the final story. Would the factories be making metal or plastic. I guess this was all before the environmental /climate change issues started to arise.

Good stories but really terrible readings
The stories are generally great, but the narration is dreadful. Overexcited, overacted, completely lacking in subtlety. Pretty much all 10 stories, I can’t remember one which was actually well read.

A excellent selection of PKD classics.
Early PKD has always been a favourite of mine and granted you can get most of these tales elsewhere for free, but to find them combined and in one download on Audible is a great thing.
My only gripe is I would have preferred one set narrator, I shan't say which was my favourite (it would be unkind to the others), but one in particular really suited the feel of classic PKD and I wish they had stayed throughout.
Still this is a minor gripe and really not worth losing any sleep over. Buy this.

Would highly recommend
different stories and characters to enjoy and easy to get lost into different worlds and different areas of the sci fi genre.

Hmmm!
The only story in this collection I had encountered before was Autofac, so I was coming to most of these stories fresh (still haven’t watched the TV series).
The stories are dated, women don’t really get a look in and there is so much smoking going on. However PKD excelled at being concise in his world building, cramming a lot in a small amount of txt and his ideas shine through the baggage of time.
Well worth a read.

Classic PKD but avoid the introductions for spoile
Philip K. Dick stories like to play with your expectations, often it's not clear what's going on until the end. If you haven't seen the TV series I would avoid listening to the introductions, the first one somewhat spoils the first story so I decided to skip the rest of the introductions, unfortunately Audible is as bad as it always is for chapters and the only way to do this is to mash the 30 second button until you hear the narrator change.
It's a quick listen, I finished it in a few days but all of the stories are fantastic, the performance is good. Well worth picking up if you're a PKD fan.

An old favourite
I read this many years ago and was then surprised how many became films and tv series. I enjoyed all the stories. If you love old scifi and can enjoy it as a product of its time then enjoy.

Great Listen- please add chapter headings
It would be such an improvement if proper chapter headings could be added- rather than just saying chapter 1,2 3 etc. This really is sloppy especially for a book of short stories. An ebook or hard copy book generally has this.
Having said that a very good book and a good companion to the channel 4 series.

not too bad, but could be better
once I got over the reinterpretation of PKD's original stories, they were quite cleverly done
