Anthony Cumia
About this listen
The uncensored and long-awaited life story of radio’s most notorious shock jock, Anthony Cumia.
Today, Anthony Cumia is the co-host of the wildly popular “Anthony Cumia Show,” which live-streams to a huge following of paid subscribers; however, Anthony is most well-known from the legendary, nationally syndicated “Opie and Anthony Show.” Permanently Suspended is an all-access pass to the controversial mayhem that ensued on-and-off the air.
A must-listen for all diehard O&A fans, Permanently Suspended finally answers the questions that everyone has been waiting for: What really happened between Opie and Anthony? What was the reasoning behind the multiple firings? What prompted the tweeting about the Times Square NYC incident? What is the true account of the controversial allegations? What are the never-before-revealed details of Anthony’s stint in rehab? What does the future hold for his livestream podcast? These questions, and many more, will be answered.
Permanently Suspended is a humorous, no-holds-barred account of the legendary career and life of Anthony Cumia - a blue collar guy who made his dreams come true, rising above all obstacles to become one of the most well-known and successful personalities in radio history.

Good Stuff
Good stuff, but I knew pretty much all the anecdotes from listening to the O&A show for years, you could find 90% of the shows with these stories on YouTube right now - I'd still recommend the audiobook.

Back alley Tunisian knife fighter
A lot of stuff in here isn't new if you have listened to O&A. But it does explain why Ant is like he is, whatever you think of him, not everything is black and white/left or right.

Great Listen, Great Story, Great Man.
Being from Ireland, I only discovered O&A shortly before the end of the show’s lifespan in 2014, although through listening to all of the outrageously hilarious stunts, gags and regular shows from over the years, I am fascinated to learn more about both Opie and Anthony, and of course Lil Jimmy Norton too. This book is greatly narrated by Anthony, he sounds just like he did on the radio, and how he does doing the Compound Media shows, while keeping the same brash whit and tone that he is famous for, even laughing after some lines. Cumia pulls no punches when talking about the rocky relationships he has had throughout his life, both personal and professional. I would listen to this book many times over as this man has had a wonderful, interesting and storied life on his journey from rags to riches. Thank you Anthony, for sharing the story of your life, and long may your success continue.

Classic Cumia
I was worried about buying this audio book because I’ve listened to Cumia talking for countless hours and thought it might be a waste of money to listen to him talk about things that he’s probably already talked about on radio. I shouldn’t have been worried it was fucking hilarious and covered lots of things from a different angle. Totally worth the money.

A must listen for O&A fans
While most of the stories and anecdotes here will be very familiar to long time O&A fans. Hearing what is now the official version, without any cuts or interruptions is a treat
Anthony has always have a great talent for storytelling, and his comedic timing enhances these snapshots of the various good and bad points of his life and career.
It's also good to hear him laughing along as he tells his tales.
Don't expect a full on Opie-bashing from cover to cover, Anthony has always created him with getting in started in the business, it's honest, not cruel or vindictive. If you want people crapping on the Opester, just check the comment section of any O&A YouTube clip.

Incredibly lazy, full of lies, and no new insight
As a huge o&a fan, I was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, you can get a more accurate and in-depth look into his life and character from YouTube videos. There’s actually an amazing five hour documentary of him which I found to be far, far more in depth and interesting, as ironically, it’s not censored like his book.
This book was like Anthony (or whoever he hired) went through all the available content online, and put his life anecdotes in chronological order; I swear a lot of it is almost word for word from the way he told the stories back on air. This was easy to spot as I was revisiting old shows and going through the book simultaneously during an unhealthy o&a binge.
He also twists details, and flat out omits the most interesting aspects that I was looking forward to hearing!!! I felt a little cheated.
I was a huge fan, and I still did enjoy hearing him talk (he has a good voice, he should do radio), but very little new info is gleaned here....there is no way I could honestly recommend this book.
If you are a die hard Anthony fan and don’t mind listening to the stories you’ve probably heard before, then it should be good. If you’re new, I urge you to watch “Anthony Cumia’s Demented World” on youtube instead... It isn’t filtered at all, and is brutally honest -something I was hoping this book would be, but sadly was the opposite.
Or do what I did and listen to both.
Definitely watch/listen to the doc first though... it is a TRIP!!
Sometimes telling your own story isn’t the most accurate and uncensored.
