About this listen
The aristocratic Pathfinder Varian Jeggare and his hellspawn bodyguard, Radovan (Pathfinder's answer to Sherlock Holmes and Watson), return for their fifth standalone novel. When Varian is bequeathed a dangerous magical book by an old colleague, he and Radovan are pulled into a mystery that will set them on the path of a powerful necromancer seeking to become the new avatar of an ancient and sinister demigod - one of the legendary Runelords. But in saving the world, will Varian and Radovan lose their souls?
Based upon the world featured in the award winning Pathfinder role-playing game.

Not sure I'll finish this one.
This was my first Pathfinder novel, as I wanted more exposure to the world of the game. However, about halfway through I don't feel like I've gained much. It's a mystery novel, focusing on interaction between characters with interspersed "encounters". It reads a bit like a play session. As a story it's fairly run of the mill.
My main gripe is with the narration. The point of view shifts keeps shifting between the two main characters, however they are read so similar by Steve West that it can be hard to keep track of who does what if you don't give it full attention.

Good book, shouldn't have changed voice actor
only problem is the change in voice actor feels weird after 4 books, Paul Boehmer brought the series to life. Out of all the characters it was mainly Radovan that didn't sound right the way Paul West voiced him
