Summary

Sandpoint. An ordinary town on the Lost Coast of Varisia. When Ezren, Merisiel, Valeros and Harsk arrive, seeking rest from their adventures, it seems the town’s annual Swallowtail Festival will give them what they need - until goblins attack during a ceremony to consecrate the town’s rebuilt church.

After defending Sandpoint, the adventurers discover a sinister plot to return an ancient evil to Varisia. Can they discover the sinister connection between the goblin attack and the removal of mortal remains from a crypt in the town’s graveyard?

This is just the beginning of a new quest for the iconic Pathfinder characters Ezren, Merisiel, Valeros and Harsk. The Rise of the Runelords begins with burnt offerings - and only four heroes stand against it.

Good, but lacking

its a good abridged story of the first chapter of rise of the Runelords, however it is lacking in direction l. the characters seems to jump from place to place, if there was more narration, a simple 'upon returning to the rusty dragon' instead of just changing the background noise and jumping there. I think having Harsk interacting with Shelelu would have been interesting too. Also some narration during battles rather than just noise and having the characters imply what they have done or will do would have been better, like 'the flurry of attacks from the goblins were fast, but lacked the finesse to hit their mark' something to draw the listener into the danger and tension rather that a few metal swishes and clinks, especially if you are paying about £16 for a hour of content.

Pathfinder Legends1.1

What would have made Pathfinder Legends - Rise of the Runelords 1.1 Burnt Offerings better?

Poor accents, too many "amusing asides" which I found to be tedious.

What could Mark Wright have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not a lot, poor story

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Acting was terrible especially the American accent

Any additional comments?

All very stereotypical and full of clichés. Not at all enjoyable, I didn't even get to the end before stopping.
