About this listen
All I want to do is look after my dad, so when I land the job of a lifetime that will take care of our expenses, I grab at the chance with both hands. Little do I know, the impossible will be expected of me.
Slowly my smile fades and my laughter dies, until all that's left is the broken puppet my personal hell created.
Liam Byrne, the head of the Irish mafia, returns from a business trip and I expect my hellish nightmare to increase ten-fold.
Brutal, merciless, and dangerous, Liam is feared by all, even the monster intent on killing my soul.
Turns out I was wrong.
The instant Liam notices what's happening, he takes me under his wing. Even though he's all sharp edges and threatening growls, I feel safe with him. Little by little, my sunshine creeps through the cracks, and my laughter returns.
But can one monster really defeat another, or am I just a girl dreaming about the impossible?
From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Michelle Heard comes a standalone Irish mafia romance.
This book is intended for mature listeners.

Book Two ❤️🔥🌶️
I really enjoyed book two, the story flows so well. I listened to this one evening and I didn't go to sleep until I finished it. Liam is in charge of Chicago, Irish Mafia and he sets his sights on Kiera. They have chemistry from the beginning and Liam's attraction to her only grows as each day passes. Kiera finds out who she really is and her father's past. The side characters are interesting and I help to build a complete story.
There are some triggers in this.
The narrators were great.
I'm looking forward to book three

Time for tissues 😪
As the second book comes to the end, all I can think about is, wow just wow!!!
There's an awful lot going on throughout the book. But trust me when I say, really think of this book is one for you.
Not because it's rubbish, it's because their is so much stuff that could trigger a person!! The authors don't put the warning as a joke after all.
So if rape is a huge no for you, trust me when I say, skip this one. There's other stuff too, but the rape is the biggest one to be warned about!!
However, if it's something that you are able to read, then trust me when I say, this book is excellent.
Now don't get me wrong, rape is never ok, but the reason I've said this book is excellent is the way it has been written!! I've always freely admitted that I have gone through it and I've always appreciated the fact, that authors are getting this out there and it's done with as much sensitivity as possible.
The authors have always ensured that it isn't written with a blase attitude and have helped to empower the female characters that have been dealt with such. It's because of that, that I can accept reading these sorts of books.
I have also, as silly as it may seem, find that such things actually helped me more so than the therapists i have seen!! Now that's not to say that every survivor of rape could relate like this or that therapists don't help people, I'm just saying it didn't help me.
I found with this book, I cried more than I have with others, not sure why to be honest, but I have. And it's not just when the attack happened or the recovery after that I cried either. I seemed to tear up a lot with this book in its entirety. Both heart breaking, sad and also happy tears.
So if you're a cryer, make sure you've got your hankies to the ready, as this is one that will have you sad and crying one minute, to happy laughing out loud tears the next. I felt hormonal by the end lol 😂😂
It's a really great book, so buy it and read it now. Also while you're at it, also buy the audio too.
We again have Kelsey Navarro reading for Kiara and James Anderson Foster reading for Liam. With another excellent narration and I must admit, these two really go well together.
The only thing in any way negative is when Kelsey does the voice for Declan. When first introduced to Kiara it's actually noted that he has a slight Irish lilt.
Yet it's never there when it's Kelsey narrating the part which has me wondering if she cannot do an Irish accent. Good news is, that when James is doing it, the Irish lilt is right there and it's great!!
Regardless it's still well worth the money to be able to listen as you're reading and getting to hear the voices in actuality, as opposed to just imagining what they probably sound like in your mind.
So again get the two and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Now I'm off to read AND listen to book three. Sayonara friends 😁😁
