About this listen
Nolan Dalla was commissioned by Ungar in 1998 to pen his story, resulting in hundreds of hours of taped interviews and conversations. The result is the startling tale of a man who won at his game and lost control of his life.
Notorious for gambling every single dollar in his pocket, Ungar won an estimated $30 million in his lifetime, but when he was found dead in a Las Vegas motel at the age of 45, he had only $800 in cash on his person, with no bank account or home address.

Excellent book even though never gambled.
This is a must read even if gambling isn't for you. I was gripped all the way though, such an amazing story, I will definitely listen to this again one day. Highly recommend.

A compelling and tragic biography
Most people who find this audiobook will already be familiar with the story of Stu Ungar who, for a time, crushed the professional poker and gin rummy world.
His story is told here sympathetically, showing a flawed man who lived outside of the system pursued by his own demons.
However, there is no doubt he was also generous with everyone and had a savant ability to play cards.
Stu Ungar changed the face of poker at a time when you had to learn the game through your own insight and experience.
The narration is excellent. This is a worthy listen, at times thrilling and also very sad.

Well researched
The life of Stu Unger is so very frustrating. A genius stuck in a boys body and attitude.
The book is well read and extremely well researched. A slight knowledge of poker will make it all the more exciting.
All in a good listen.

Brilliant
Great detailed biography of the greatest poker player ever. A great insight into his life, as an audio book it's very good - the reader does a great job of bringing the characters to life.

Amazing story of a super talented man and his demons
A must listen if you want to experience the ups and downs of the remarkable life of the greatest gin and one of the best poker players to have ever lived. Not always the nicest bike by the sounds of it, but an amazing person and incredible story. RIP Stu :(
