About this listen
Separated by prideful airs and prejudiced assumptions, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are convinced they will never see the other again…until 11 years later; fate sets them both on a different course.
Elizabeth Bennet
After receiving the most insulting proposal imaginable from Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet vows to loathe him for all eternity. Years later, now a widowed duchess and raising her son, the Duke of Grafton, Elizabeth embarks on an adventure with her son and father to the West Indies.
Fitzwilliam Darcy
After enduring a scathing condemnation of his character by the only woman he would ever love, Mr. Darcy decides he must disappear from society. With the help of his cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Darcy secures a ship and crew and sets sail on the open seas. Mr. Darcy’s life takes such a turn that even his closest relative would not recognize him or his new identity as Max Sterling, captain of the Absolution.
When the pirates of the Absolution attack the Duchess’ ship, Captain Sterling receives the shock of his life when he spots the beautiful duchess and realizes that they share a connection, albeit one that was abandoned 11 years ago….

The Lady and the Pirate!
Darcy was a wealthy man who fell in love with Elizabeth however her dismissal of his proposal turned his life in a totally different direction. Elizabeth regrets what happened but never saw Darcy again and in the years since she married a man she loved, who passed away, and had a son.
Eleven years later when her father wants to take a trip on a ship, he convinces Elizabeth that she and her son should come as well. She put her uncertainties aside and agreed but when they are taken over by pirates, she hadn’t expected the feelings she developed for Max, the Captain or the secret that he holds. Is their love strong enough to overcome their very different lifestyles?
This is a very unique take on a classic story that draws you in with compelling characters. The narrator did a great job of bringing this story to life.

On Stranger Prides
I love listening to books with this era and have to say that this book definitely did not disappoint. A misunderstanding leads to some drastic reactions to the point that fate has to take over and make their paths cross again. I really enjoyed this book and loved the narration.

Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirate's Life for Me
If you want to suck me into a Pride and Prejudice book, this is the way to do it! Argh, Elizabeth Bennett, you have no willpower when it comes to the charms of Captain Sterling! This is a fantastic listen as we have Elizabeth being taken hostage on a pirate ship by none other than the man she turned down 11 years before. Not recognizing the dashing Fitz Darcy, now known as Captain Sterling, he uses his wiles to woo her and win her heart. But what will happen when she realizes who he is? And what has he done with her father? And how will her son react to all the changes in his life? There is so much to deal with, many decisions to make and a hot, burning desire for this man. I loved every minute of Amy Cecil's original take on this classic.
Marina Barrett just enhances this story with her amazing narration. This woman has a real knack for storytelling, and she knows how to bring this to life. She has incredible voices and her emotions and inflections of all the characters pull us in, and keep us stranded until the very end. It's a book well worth a listen!

I got swept away with this story, loved it!
Oh goodness me I loved this! I have to hold my hands up and say that I am a fan of Pride and Prejudice anyway. I really wasn't sure what to expect but the start settles you in with parts that are familiar and then it takes you off on a journey. Oh my does it! The way that Marina Barrett narrated just helped to suck me in even further. I loved the accents she used. The idea behind it is fantastic and I could just imagine the characters behaving in this way. Sooooooo good.

Regency Romance
On Stranger prides by Amy Cecil is a regency romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Marina Barrett.
I absolutely loved this spin on Pride and Prejudice. Amy did an amazing job pulling me into the story. I just had to know how it was going to end.
Marina did an amazing job on the narration. I love that she uses different tones/voices for each character. She really knows how to bring a story to life.
I would highly recommend this book if you love Regency Romances.

Loved it
Who doesn’t love a Pride and Prejudice retelling story?
This book is even more than then what you’re expecting, it’s more interesting and that what if elements are so well defined and written that is actually a totally new story worth of her own rank .
Another great book by a favourite author now.

Wonderful Pirate P&P Variation
I received a copy of this audiobook in return for an unbiased review.
I very much enjoyed this take on what occurred after Darcys failed proposal. This story is full of adventure and romance and was a joy to listen to.
The narration was splendid. Accents were very good and a good range of character voices, both male and female. Well paced and clear.
I'd recommend this to all who enjoy a twist for Pride and Prejudice.

Omg!
Darcy finally admits his feelings to Elizabeth and asks for her hand in marriage. Rather than saying yes like he assumed she would, she declines. She also lays down many accusations against him for why she's not marrying him. He takes what she says to heart and writes her a letter of explanation. Once he's sent it, he abandons his life and becomes a pirate. Years later, Elizabeth is a widow to an aristocrat. She, her son, and her father set out to go on a trip to see family. The ship that she's in is overtaken by none other than Darcy and his crew.
When I first started reading this book, I was not very impressed. It was literally a scene in the original Pride and Prejudice book. Then Darcy goes and becomes a pirate and I'm like: WHAT???? I must know more! Sadly, I didn't get to experience everything that I would like to have gotten to experience. However, I still enjoyed this book very much. I like to consider it an alternate reality version of Mr. Darcy And Elizabeth. Her son was a character that I didn't know we needed in the story until we got him! I've read other books by Amy Cecil. She's an AMAZING writer. She's quickly become one of my favorite authors.
This book was narrated by Marina Barrett. She did a really great job. I figured she would. She did great in her narration on Ripper. I am excited to listen to her narrated The mind of a Killer. I'd also like to listen to other books narrated by her. She has a skill with voices and tones. I can't even begin to describe it. The best thing I can do is fully recommend that readers listen to the stories she narrates. It will be very much more than worth it.
I'm glad I decided to put my misgivings about this book and soldier through it anyway. I would have lost out on getting to experiencing an amazing retelling. The only thing I wish is that it had been a longer story. I wish there were more things that could have been added to the story. Especially some of the expositions that Mr. Darcy went on in the years after he left home. I would have liked to see Elizabeth's life as well. They are referenced, but it would have been nice to see. Either way, I recommend it.
