captivating

I loved every minute of it. Haven seen Oliver Twist as a play at the theater as a young girl in Denmark I was looking forward to learning the original plot. The narrator did a splendid job. A book that showcases the British history and the views on children women rich and poor. I can only recommend it highly.

Simply a classic

One of Dickens' greatest novels, the story is fuller and deeper than the famous film adaptation. One has to wink at the coincidences so essential to the plot and the modern reader will wince at the charicature of a Jew but it is Dickens' genius that even Fagin, so portrayed is sympathetic. Wonderful performance by Martin Jarvis.

Wow! What a combingation.

What a wonderful combination: Charles Dickens and Martin Jarvis as narrator. Dickens characters have so much depth and insight and Martin Jarvis' narration is superb. Couldn't ask for more. Totally recommend.

Excellent narration of an excellent book

Martin Jarvis brought this well loved classic to life with his wonderful range of voices.
I had forgotten just how much veiled criticism of living and social conditions Dickens incorporates into his novels. The narrator seems to find just the right tone for each character and situation.

Superb narration of this wonderful classic

I've only ever seen the musical and wanted to read the book itself. it's typically great Dickensian writing but the narration really sets it off do well. Excellent.
