Adam Hasting’s life takes an unexpected turn when a baby is left at Hastings Security with a note asking him to take care of his daughter. As the oldest brother in the family business, Adam has always set an example. One thing he knows for sure is the child can’t possibly be his.

Trusting her life to a kind doctor, September desperately seeks to put her life back together and gain the trust of Adam Hastings.

When the paparazzi find September, new dangers threaten her and her baby. Adam and the rest of the Hastings family work to keep them safe. September realizes she must draw on her own courage to save her child and claim a future with the man she has always loved.

Good and Unexpected

4.5 stars
I knew this book was clean romance because I’d known about this author for awhile. However, I thought it would be more along the lines the other “hot” (to call it something) romances of this genre.
I was wrong. This book was more about Postpartum Depression and the difficulties of living as a famous person and having a baby outside marriage than just a security guard falling in love with the person he’s guarding (probably because it was a more complicated situation than that).
Besides not shying away from difficult topics, I really enjoyed the family dynamics of the Hastings and the baby (will I ever not became happy when there’s babies in real life or in fiction?).
The only things I didn’t enjoy so much was feeling that a main part of the story had happened before the book started and we never got to see what happened then (was that talked about in previous books? Are there previous books?) even if it was easy enough to understand without all the details.
All in all, a good escapist read for a not-really-feeling-it day.

Totally different style romance, well worth a read

It took me a few chapters to get into this story, although it states book 1 in the series, it felt like there was an existing storyline. Once I got into it, I throughly enjoyed this book. It was novel in the story line, dealing with post natal depression but not in a ‘bring you down’ kind of way. A good clean romance, I recommend giving it a listen. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Insightful and engaging

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. The fact that it is centred around such a sensitive subject as PPD has me concerned what it would entail. I found it to be engaging and insightful. Having listened to the Authors Note at the end, I discovered that this was a condition the author was personally familiar with. This enhanced my appreciation for how she handled the unfolding of the story. I’m glad she didn’t go too far into the dark realities of having PPD but focused on the journey of recovery instead. The next story was clean in its overall content. There is reference to a sexual relationship outside of marriage and also to physical abuse, but this is referred to in retrospect or flashbacks. It was not confronting or disturbing to listen to. This is the first book of the Hastings series and I’ll be happy to continue on with the other stories in the series.
