Hard hitting but gripping

This book was addictive and beautifully written. It was hard to listen to in places, but that is due to the intense the of the book. This is a necessary listen and I will be researching the reality to find out more.

Tender narration and heartfelt story

A combination of good writing and gentle beautiful narration makes this book absolutely worth a listen to .This isn't the easiest subject to listen to but the author manages to make the point sensitively that there are women and their families experiencing things in life that we can only pretend to understand until we hear stories like these.. with this you can feel the tender beating hopefull hearts on every page ,just looking for better things ahead , a difficult subject is dealt with care and for me is done very well. You feel you are right there and want to stand up with the family and all the girls and women ,a story told really well all the way through

Wonderful

I really enjoyed this book. It enlightened me on the situation in Pakistan and about the plight of these girls and honour killings. Made me appreciate how privileged we are in the west and how we should do more

Heartbreaking brilliance.

Another stunning novel by Pakistan's king of fiction!

No Honour grips you from the very beginning and doesn't let you go. It's a story of immense heart, the triumph of the human spirit and, ultimately, love.

We follow Abida's journey from a rural Pakistani village to the slums of Lahore, as she encounters a string of horrifying circumstances, all because of her illegitimate child. As events spiral out of control, the reader is catapulted into a den of crime and entangled frictions.

Through the novel, Awais highlights the disparity of women's lives in Pakistan and the double standards involved in honour killing. He brings a much-needed inspection of this barbaric practice with the authenticity of culture rarely seen in British fiction. The writing is mature, nuanced and compelling.

The story is full of realistic and believable characters. One of my absolute favourites is Shahid. I won't spoil it, but he's so great! I even cried at the end, and I NEVER cry at anything!

The novel is hopeful and inspiring, but it never strays into sugary territory. This is a much-needed double espresso in the world of fiction. Punchy, enlightening, urgent. A brilliant book by a brilliant author.

Nikki Patel does a great job of narration, and adds real depth to the performance. I highly recommend it!

Worth it

Good narrator with depth to the story. Lovely description and details within story of a sad yet humbling story of an unfortunately all too common life position of some women within the world
