Summary
Packed full of incident and insight, No Cunning Plan is a funny, self-deprecating and always entertaining memoir by Sir Tony Robinson.
Sir Tony Robinson is a much-loved actor, presenter and author with a stellar career lasting over fifty years. In this autobiography he reveals how the boy from South Woodford went from child stardom in the first stage production of Oliver!, a pint-sized pickpocket desperately bleaching his incipient moustache, to comedy icon Baldrick, the loyal servant and turnip aficionado in Blackadder.
It wasn't all plain sailing though. Along the way he was bullied by Steve Marriott, failed to impress Liza Minnelli and was pushed into a stinking London dock by John Wayne. He also entertained us with Maid Marion and Her Merry Men (which he wrote and starred in) and coped manfully when locked naked outside a theatre in Lincoln during the live tour of comedy series Who Dares Wins. He presented Time Team for twenty years, watching countless gardens ruthlessly dug up in the name of archaeology, and risked life and limb filming The Worst Jobs in History.

Fantastic very enjoyable
Always been a fan of Tony Robinson after meeting him briefly at a party in islington many moons ago . Thoroughly enjoyed the book and learning about the time team who i had become a fan of all since its inception.

Fantastic
Absolutely loved this book. Funny, very moving and always interesting. Although a big fan of Tony through Blackadder and Time Team, there is a lot more to him than that as this book shows. Highly recommended!

Interesting, but also a little underwhelming
Robinson's performance is great, as can be expected. However, the events that are probably of most interest to listeners felt glossed over - Blackadder gets surprisingly little attention, and most other shows he participated in were sometimes mentioned as afterthoughts. A strange, sadly underwhelming memoir.

very moving!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. but listening to it has opened my eyes to a number of things. it has also reinforced my decision not to sprout an actor's characters' iconic line to the. if I meet one as I can only imagine how irritating it must seem! wonderful book!

Very good value
At over 14 hours, this audio book is a great investment, and to have Tony Robinson read it himself is very much a bonus. Lots of detail about the author's early life can occasionally become a bore in some books. In this case Tony's tales of his childhood and upbringing, etc all give real weight to the book's title, and emphasise how he has often almost stumbled upon the great opportunities that have made him "a national treasure".
I enjoyed the whole thing a very great deal.
