Not Eve's best behaviour in this one.
I really don’t like this story, mainly due to Eve being not very nice in this one.
Strange that Eve was mean in the last one too.
Though I sympathise with her emotion turmoil raised by what happens, she is extremely obnoxious to Roarke, the one person who understands what she is going through. Eve is dealing so badly, Roarke, feeling helpless, has to bring Mira and Galahad to Dallas to help her deal.
And the way Eve sneers at the politeness of the people of Dallas, just rude.
BOOK REVIEW
Not one of my favourites even with the past bought front and centre.
Though full of tension all the way through, this is not one I enjoy very much, mainly due to Eve regressing stupidly and being nasty because she pushes herself instead of thinking. Yes she apologises but only after Roarke has to sic Mira onto her.
A tough one for Eve and Roarke.
Hunting someone she has already put away is difficult enough but is made into a trip into the past when she has to go to Dallas to pursue a paedophile.
At times Eve can be too stubborn for her own good. Getting herself so tired that it allows the nightmares to return is on her own head but Roarke suffers for it too. She is also a bit mean minded and nasty tempered towards Roarke in this one. Purposely picking fights rather than deal with her past.
Mira, as usual, is there to support her with this painful reality but Eve, true to form acts the ostrich and takes her time dealing.
I have to say she deserves to have a big pity party after recognising a face from her past she would rather forget but the fact she then stands for her was something I wouldn’t have done.
And how she goes about it by pushing Roarke away was truly Eve at her selfish worst.
Nice that Peabody is capably running the show in New York whilst Eve is in Dallas.
Hopefully Eve will be a kinder person to those she loves going forward now she has had this catalyst moment.
I have owned most of these books in paperback for years but now have them all in eBook format, so I am rereading this series once more in order, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Even knowing what is in the future, it is absolutely no hardship to reread this series and I am really enjoying how all the characters are growing and changing.

Riveting story again
As with all of this series, another story that does not disappoint with the perfect narrator. I love these books.

New York to Dallas by JD Robb
I have read every "In Death"book by JD Robb (33 books now on the train). This is the first Audio book in the Eve Dallas series that I've listened too and thought that it was brilliant. Looking forward to Celebrity in Death next year. Not long to wait......

This is a great book but read it only if you have read the rest or it won't have the same impact. For people who have read or listened to the whole series, this is a very emotional book. I hate to see Eve struggle so much but it's very sweet the way Roark is with her. I just adore them both and all the characters too. J.D.Robb is absolute genius at writing characters that you can care about so much. I have no idea what I will do when I finish this series. I'm getting worried to be honest.
