About this listen
After years of seeing her sisters suffer at the hands of an abusive prince, Marra—the shy, convent-raised, third-born daughter—has finally realized that no one is coming to their rescue. No one, except for Marra herself. Seeking help from a powerful gravewitch, Marra is offered the tools to kill a prince—if she can complete three impossible tasks. But, as is the way in tales of princes, witches, and daughters, the impossible is only the beginning. On her quest, Marra is joined by the gravewitch, a reluctant fairy godmother, a strapping former knight, and a chicken possessed by a demon. Together, the five of them intend to be the hand that closes around the throat of the prince and frees Marra's family and their kingdom from its tyrannous ruler at last.

She’s got a demon in her!
Fabulous book. I was a bit sceptical at first but after a couple of chapters, the story really took off, especially when the chicken is introduced (no spoilers). First book I’ve read in a while that I would love to illustrate!

Really great read
Great story, characters, plot and performance. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I guess it could be called a young adult book but I’m 50 and still loved it

Pleasantly surprised.
I picked this audiobook as part of my Audible Plus library, even though it’s not the kind of genre I usually go for. To my surprise, it turned out to be a really enjoyable and entertaining listen! I’ll definitely explore other titles from this collection.

Very satisfying
Loved it! Slow to get started but good ending! Loved the characters, especially the chickens! A bit open-ended, room for a sequel?

Unusual and engaging
Not my usual cup of tea, but I found myself thoroughly engaged by the story, and the beautiful narration by a soft American voice. Again, not an accent normally to my taste. This is A fairy tale for adults set in an alternate world and provides excellent escapism.

cosy fantasy story
I loved this story, nettle and stone is a beautifully told fairy tale which will take you away to that nostalgic storyland of childhood, yet manages to avoid well. trodden tropes.

A twisted fairytale
I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of a twisted fairytale. I enjoyed all the characters and the pacing of the story. It was performed very well. Really recommend this during Halloween season.
