Gypsy-Rose Blanchard
About this listen
A victim of her mother’s Munchausen by proxy and child abuse survivor, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard’s unique and controversial case made headlines across the world.
Now, she’s finally free to start living her life on her terms—and to tell her own story as only she can.
Forced to use a wheelchair in public and endure a lifetime of faux illness, fraud, and exploitation, Gypsy was subjected not only to her mother’s medical, physical, and emotional abuse, but deprived of childhood milestones. Prevented from attending school or socializing, Gypsy’s formative years were defined by pain and isolation.
After serving eight years in prison for the role she played in her mother Dee Dee’s murder, Gypsy is embracing her fresh start—and reminding all of us that it’s never too late.
In this revelatory, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful memoir, Gypsy shares the painful realities she grew up with and the details of her life that only she knows, including:
• The abusive cycle that began with Dee Dee’s abuse by her father
• Gypsy’s fear that continued unnecessary surgery would leave her truly disabled
• How she coped with guilt and accepted responsibility for her mother’s death
• Memories of her final days in prison
• What she learned upon reviewing her own medical records for the first time
• How it felt to finally see her family again as her authentic self
Featuring new facts about Gypsy’s life that she previously kept private, My Time to Stand offers an unprecedented look at the real Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, proudly embarking on her ongoing journey to recovery and self-discovery.

Gypsy reading her own story
Very well written and hits home more being read by Gypsy herself..
The recalling of events and the way it was delivered made it an easy listen but not easy to hear all the stuff she had to endure.

a must read
I think it was a interesting book. the details sometimes were hard to hear and rather graphic but it's her story to tell and I paid to listen to her story so can't complain. I listened within a day so must of enjoyed it. I do hope she has a good life and her new baby but ken definitely won't be forever unfortunately he isn't the man she needs.

Amazing
Very good listen, and understand your suffering. Great hearing your POV and how you want to help people as well as learning everything since your release
I know you probably don’t wish to think about prison more, would thought more writing about the help out got inside. Nicks trial, and learning. How you felt free in prison.

A Raw & Honest Account
Very moving and leaves you feeling a deep sense of empathetic understanding. At times the book is a very hard read, or hard to listen to. I don't think it could have been any better written, and is quite gripping. Gypsy's personality and humor shines through, especially towards the end of the book. I like how the Chapter names are in French and there are a lot of nods to Gypsy's heritage and Cajun Culture.

I'm 50/50
I understand gypsy went through an extremely terrible time with what her mother did to her, but I feel it could of been totally avoided the deed I think she called it, why not go to a neighbour when her mom was sleeping, why not stand up at an appointment, why not try get in touch with her dad, it was all men she went to which causes me to believe she wanted a man to murder her mother she got one and he's doing life but she got a way lesser sentence than him which I feel is not fair, her mother didn't deserve to die she was clearly mentally unwell and needed help, god I could forgive myself hearing her cry out my name while just sitting there.such a sad tragic story.

I was instantly hooked
I listened to the whole book in 1 day, it was interesting hearing more about her life and how she felt, we've all heard about her crime, but not so much about what lead her to it and the relationships she had with family and partners over the years. I'd recommend giving this a listen
