Summary

The staff in high society households are expected to be unobtrusive, but a dead butler in the dining room tends to get noticed. Did he die of natural causes or was he poisoned?

Cleo is hired by the housekeeper at a Mayfair residence after the police rule the sudden death of the butler was the result of natural causes. Not convinced by the verdict, she wants Cleo to prove foul play was involved. Considering he was acting mysteriously around some of the guests, and they were equally mysterious when they saw him, murder is a possibility.

When the investigation leads Cleo to another decades-old murder and the sudden disappearance of the primary suspect, she’s even more determined to uncover the truth. But the rich and powerful don’t like airing their dirty laundry, and her efforts are thwarted at every turn. Enlisting Harry Armitage to assist her, Cleo matches wits with her suspects in an effort to discover the secrets they’re trying desperately to hide.

Very clever storyline for a female investigator of this time period!

Storylines and character arcs just get better and better!! And the ‘will they won’t they?’ gets more difficult to resist! Can’t wait for December for the next instalment!! 😄

Murder at the Dinner Party

Another thrilling murder mystery with Cleo unwilling to just let the case go, after there seemed to be no reason for murder. With all the skellingtons seemingly out in the open, Cleo still is unhappy with the end result so carries on despite that her client no longer wishes her to.
Read by the amazing narration of Marian Hussey.

Enjoyable

A very enjoyable plot but, the Cleo/Harry relationship storyline is becoming tedious and ridiculous. Excellent narration as always.

Familiar and lovely

I love these books and the narration. Not the most riveting of all the books, but enjoyable.

I am gripped!!

These books have me hooked. I have listened to all 8 over the last 2 months. The tension between Harry and Cleo has me hooked. With every glance, touch or blush felt with maximum excitement. I never thought I'd ever be so excited by so little.

Another great listen!

These books don’t lessen in quality. Great story and I just keep getting more and more invested in the characters. The time period enriches the story instead of choking it. Can’t wait for the next book! Narrator does an amazing job too, hope the next is done by them too
