Summary
When Reece arrives at Cathy's door aged 7 years old, he has already passed through the hands of four different carers in four weeks. As the details of his short life emerge, it becomes clear that to help him, Cathy will face her biggest challenge yet.
The latest title from the author of Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller Damaged.
Reece is the last of six siblings to be fostered. Having been in care for four months his aggressive and disruptive behaviour has seen him passed from carer to carer. Although only 7, he has been excluded from school, and bites people so often that his mother calls him 'Sharky'.
Cathy wants to find the answers for Reece’s distressing behaviour, but he has been sworn to secrecy by his mother, and will not tell them anything. As the social worker prepares for the final hearing, he finds five different files on Reece’s family, and is incredulous that he had not been removed from them as a baby. When the darkest of family secrets is revealed to Cathy, Reece’s behaviour suddenly starts to make sense, and together they can begin to rebuild his life.

Touching and Thought Provoking
Reece is just 7 years old when he arrives at Cathy's. He's part of a large family and his mother Tracy has had a difficult past She has h learning difficulties as does Reece and all but one of his siblings. Cathy and her family cater for Reece's needs as best they can, and Cathy stands by him as he goes through difficult times at school and in his personal life. He learns to trust Cathy and her family and they become close while decisions about Reece's future are made. A touching story of a brave little boy who was told "not to tell" of the secrets he and his family hold. I really felt for Reece and his siblings, experiencing so much so young.

Such A Sad Story
This book was written so well. The love and feeling from Cathy Glass really does come through in her books.
This particular story had my throat closing over from trying not to cry at many points. Poor Reece is the same age as my own son throughout this book and I really did struggle to not think of him in the same situations and being treated the same way.
Thank goodness for people like Cathy who can bring some normality and love to these children that are taken into care.

Uplifting and thought provoking
As a teacher myself, I am absolutely disgusted by the headteacher's attitude and blatant disregard towards Reece and his education. I also find Jamie's blasé attitude incredibly frustrating too. I was very moved by the improvement that Reece made in Cathy's care and think he was such a sweet little boy. It was slightly annoying though that his behaviour was constantly being described as ADHD though, when he clearly showed major signs of Disinhibited Reactive Attachment Disorder due to the neglect he had experienced as a young child.

Very thought provoking
The theme obviously is very worrying. As an ex primary school teacher I feel like the school wasn’t typical of many, who instantly do a great job at settling in new children with challenging behaviour. The headmaster in the story is not typical of all heads.
Really didn’t like the narrators voice and because I wanted to know the outcome i persevered
