About this listen
Peter Robbins leads a fairly normal and restful existence. Well, as normal as you can get for a 44 year-old accountant who is a divorced father of three. Contemplating the new challenges that life has thrown at him, a chance meeting one spring day with a plain-speaking Irish dog walker is set to turn his life on its head. A portion from the sale of each copy of this novel will go directly to Pancreatic Cancer Action, a UK charity that aims to improve survival for pancreatic cancer by focusing on early diagnosis.

Amazing, full of joy, laughter, sadness and tears
What made the experience of listening to Mr Robbins the most enjoyable?
I have previously read the book and decided that the time had come to listen to the audiobook. Everything about it was just right and how I had imagined the story to be told. I have listened to the whole book over 2 days as although I knew the outcome I needed to hear it the song in the eulogy was perfect.
What did you like best about this story?
The way that the subject matter was covered meant that although sad, it was not depressing. I laughed, cried, giggled, smiled and sobbed my heart out. It is a story that has been perfectly told and echoes the personal experiences of the author, experiences that I also share having lost my own Mum to pancreatic cancer in Dec 2012.
Have you listened to any of Michael Troughton’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This is the first of Michael Troughton's performances, and I have to say his reading is perfect
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A whole washing machine full of emotions, I have smiled, laughed, cried and sobbed my heart out listening to this book, but although it could have been depressing it is far from it.

Brilliant first novel
Any additional comments?
Excellent book. I was swept along in this emotional journey with the main characters, the authors sense of humour came through so that even in the parts that had me in tears (yes it is that type of story) there were lines that made me smile. Very sensitively written without shying away from reality and without leaving you feeling bereft.
I hope to see some more from this author in the future.

An excellent first novel sympathetically written
The love story of a man suffering from prostate cancer, well written and kept me enthralled right throughout the book. An excellent read
