Summary

'Downton with dance, perfect!' Santa Montefiore

Prepare to be swept off your feet by this romantic and irresistible novel from Sunday Times bestselling author and Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke

London, 1937.

With a new king in place, tensions are rising in London and across Europe. Shaken by the Great Depression and with
talk of another war coming, the Buckingham Hotel is trying to regain some stability.

Upstairs, Vivienne Edgerton is desperate to do something worthwhile with her time and her stepfather's money, rather than spending it on frivolity and debauchery - but will this land her in even more trouble?

And downstairs, chambermaid Nancy Nettleton is finally starting to feel more settled at the Buckingham, and hopes her brother will soon call London home, too. But she misses the man she loves, demonstration dancer Raymond de Guise, who is noticeably absent from the Grand Ballroom dance floor.

The staff and guests of the Buckingham soon discover that in a hotel full of secrets, there's always someone listening . . .

An excellent story

An excellent story full of drama and suspense, love and loss, and that little bit of du Beke magic. A great listen too, with the tale really brought to life by Thomas Judd.

Simple but oh so charming!

Anton has done it again....a captivating simple story that draws you in to the life of the Buckingham Hotel.
It’s certainly not sophisticated writing but it’s honesty has a charm all of its own such that you can visualise Anton spinning you a yarn.
Don’t stop Anton., spin us around the dance floor again please!

Enjoyed

I enjoyed listening to this one after listening to the first one but felt it was a bit repetitive and similar to the first one.

Lovely pre-Christmas romp!

Having read the first book in this series (at least I hope it's going to be a series!), I was very much looking forward to book number 2. I was not disappointed. The story of the Buckingham Hotel, it's staff and it's customers continues in a wonderfully entertaining vein, proving to be romantic, intriguing, touching and even a little thrilling!!
Well done Mr Du Beke, I await your next offering with excited anticipation!

Atmospheric

I enjoyed this book. It has a bit of everything; dancing, moral dilemmas, intrigue, and especially, romance!
I had now better read the first of Anton du Beke's books!

Can’t wait for the next one

I absolutely love this book and can’t believe how involved I became in the stories of each character. I can’t wait to get the next book, the only trouble is that there are no more after that one at the moment. I just hope that you’re busy writing another one as I’m writing this review Anton. Loved loved loved it 💖
