Summary

For the first time, all three short stories that introduce The Slaver Wars science fiction series are together. The Slaver Wars has currently sold over 100,000 copies. Listen to how it all began.

Disaster has struck the first Moon landing to be attempted in years. Commander Jason Strong and his fellow lunar explorer Greg Johnson have become stranded with no way home. In desperation, they set off in their lunar rover to check out an anomaly they discovered on their descent. What they find will shake their beliefs and what they know of human history. It is the beginning of an adventure that will take them far out into the Solar System and to a discovery that is beyond belief.

Great Author

I had come to the end of my books that I was listening to and searching for another good book to listen too and I think that I have found that with this Author, I couldn't take my earphones off once I started and cannot wait for the rest of this series to come along.
(The storey line is a bit like Battle Star Galactica in some ways)
I would recomend these stories to other listeners.

A good story line

Took me a while to get used to the narrator, but after the first three chapters I got used to the delivery.

I am now looking forward to reading the other books.

I enjoyed the story immensely, which I found very credible

who on earth gave liam owen a job as a narrator?

he is absolutely terrible. he has a very strange inflection and clearly has some form of speech impediment. he is terrible. how many great books are going to be ruined by employing liam to narrate them.

WARNING!

What was most disappointing about Raymond L. Weil’s story?

Firstly, this book is not strictly Whysper Sync as the text often does not match the Audio, which is annoying.
The book had potential with an interesting storyline but it was so badly written and repetitive. I persevered to the end hoping it would get better but it didn't.
I had hoped I'd found a new author but this didn't inspire me.
Mara's review 28/2/17) sums the book up well so I'll only repeat; that if I'd heard one more time about Gregg missing his wife and child, I'd have thrown my phone against the wall!

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Liam Owen?

The narrator has a good voice and differentiated between the characters but he seemed as though he was racing towards the finish! Perhaps he was told he had to keep the length down! He seemed to slow the pace in the last third of the book - unless I'd just got used to the speed-read by then!

Horrible performance, weak writing, good storyline

To say it short - I wish that someone else had written the story and someone else had been reading it out loud. Because the storyline in itself is very intriguing.

At first I thought the problem was only the performance because he is reading like every sentence is a title for a movie (with that movie voice and an intonation of "what I'm saying *right now* is extremely important!"). And it continues for every sentence! Listen to the sample! It won't get any better!

But after some further listening to the story I understood that the writing in itself isn't helping the reader. It's very plain, like a skeleton without the meat around. A person's emotion is being declared in a matter of fact fashion and exaggerated. Many facts were repeated several times over - the listener isn't that dumb to forget it all so fast. A perfect example is in the beginning with "He has a wife and son. He misses them. He doesn't want his wife to grow the son up alone. He wants to go home." I mean - how many times do you have to repeat this? In almost the same words! It was more than frustrating!

I finished the book only because of the story itself but I will not be capable of listening to any of the further books...! I don't have a clue how it got so good reviews! It feels like it was written by a teenager in highschool - I wrote essays like this in my time at school!

Irritating voice, repetitive writing, good story

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Editing the text to remove the weak and repetitive characterisation and reading by someone who put a bit more enthusiasm into it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Liam Owen’s performances?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Put up with dull performance and poor writing to follow the story.

A slight story written rather badly

What would have made Moon Wreck better?

The story could have been more intriguing and complex, it was very simple, like an episode of Dr Who maybe! I enjoy listening to complex 'space operas' and listened to this so I could potentially move to the other books in the series, I won't do that as this wasn't good enough. The biggest issue for me was the extremely poor sentence construction. Words were repeated multiple times in consecutive sentences, ideas were repeated. Characters were not really developed. All in all I am surprised this was published let alone turned into an audio book.

What will your next listen be?

nothing from this author

What three words best describe Liam Owen’s performance?

ok job of poor material.

Lazy writing style

Sounds like it was written by 15 year old... very lazy writing... but the story is good.
