About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Dying isn't any fun...but at least it's a living.

Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonise the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there's a mission that's too dangerous - even suicidal - the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.

Mickey signed on to escape from both bad debts and boredom on Midgard.

After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal...and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

When he goes missing and is presumed dead at the hands of deadly indigenous creatures, Mickey8 reports for duty and their troubles really begin.

Great voice acting and compelling story

Well worth the listen, just different and refreshing. I struggling to find compellingly written stories but this one hits all the targets for me, I’d fully recommend it to anyone interested in the science fiction genre

Good premise!

Wanted to listen to this before the movie comes out. Was a good read, felt like it was half baked at times, would have liked to have learned more about the creepers but was still good!

the story of mickey 7 and the people's he meets. A softer sci-fi story for all ages.

I liked the story, easy on the mind. The way the character interact and the pitfalls it entails. what would u do if you had a newer version of you as a astronaut ? time to find out in this book.

The Multiple Man Can

I loved this story and it didn't even matter that I hadn't listen to Mickey 1 through 6.

Great concept

Lack of character development. The overall story concept is a great update on clone technology. This could have been a great sci fi story, it's still very good.

Sci fi for beginners

Often I've given up on sci-fi because the books I've read have been overly complex and difficult to grasp. So when I heard about this, I was intrigued and when a twist of gate brought me into another bookstore, I decided to give it a go. And I do not regret - it's funny and easy-going while also adding some serious thought-experiments to the mix. Now and the it slowed down and got lost on its own premise, but the audiobook really heightened the experience.

So much better than the film 🍿

This book is thought provoking and philosophical, and provides insight into likely challenges for interstellar flights and space colonisation. The characters are well rounded and believable in their actions and motivations. After the garish and sensationalist movie with its cartoon-style villains I honestly wondered if I should bother with the book at all. I am so glad I persevered.

Great ideas and imagination

I really novel idea which is full of creativity and allows the reader to build their imagination around this concept of having more than one person as a duplicate. The narration was good and kept me engaged.
