Summary

Deep in Imperium Nihilus, Blood Angels Chief Librarian Mephiston and his comrades are drawn into battle with a cabal of Thousand Sons sorcerers – with worlds at stake and hidden truths threatening to overwhelm him, this is Mephiston's darkest hour....

Experience a battle of psychic might in the Dark Imperium and witness Mephiston taking on his greatest challenges ever, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Having fought during the devastation of Baal, Mephiston and a cohort of Blood Angels are drawn by cryptic visions to a war-torn world on the cusp of the Great Rift. Here, the sorcerers of the Thousand Sons seek to unite nine Silver Towers and bring about a ritual that will empower their master, the daemon-primarch Magnus. The ritual must be prevented, lest the entire sub-sector be cast into Chaos. Mephiston faces a challenge like no other, of his strength and his will, confronting a hidden truth that threatens to expose him to his darkest fears.

Great conclusion

To the story arc of mephiston and his search for the demon, I was fortunate enough to have been given a advance copy from Netgalley a few months ago and had read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it so there was n surprises for me but it was great to listen to Richard Reed narrate the story in his inimitable style

It was great

Avoided a few clichés i feared, and while the ending was a little rushed, it was still overall a great conclusion to the trilogy in my opinion

It's ok....lost the plot a few times.

Lost what the plot was a few times and sure it missed things a couple's times or skipped ahead. Leaves it kinda wide open for more though and anti climatic tbh.

Mephiston is awesome

The best of the trilogy. You really get to see more of Mephiston here and see his awesome power. As long as you accept that sometimes he seems a bit too overpowered!

Decent book unsatisfactory ending

The overall book is good. About what you would expect. The pacing of the story is good and the plot can be followed. However, you don’t gain much more insight into the chief librarian as a character. And for me the ending seemed very very rushed. An enormous amount of time in this book is spent on in the end inconsequential things, while the ending wraps up in about 20 min. For me some of the plot lines from earlier books were not followed properly, and although I enjoyed the book I was let down by the ending.

Really interesting story, very well narrated.

Really good end to this series, although more insight into Andtros would have been good.

adds to the lore around the indomitus crusade

helps fill in some story around the main dawn of fire series for the current narrative - see what old mate Magnus The Red has been up to and how the Blood Angels are trying to stop it
