Refreshing!
It is lovely to have a Mental Health book written from the perspective of someone who has experienced severe mental illness. As mental health is an invisible disorder, people often don't realize its seriousness so it is wonderful to have such poignant information from someone who has personal knowledge of the phenomenon.
This book is a gem for people who are struggling with anxiety and depression. The author opens up to her listeners and lays it all bare; so authentic! Having overcome this challenging period the author is well-positioned to offer practical tools that can be used by anyone to manage anxiety and depression. She offers 10 such tools and I am most impacted by her advice to journal daily, documenting your thoughts, feeling, and emotions, things for which you are grateful, and 10 positive things you can say about yourself. I find that advice so useful, I have taken it onboard and started journaling.
Having listened to this book I now understand more clearly mental health illness. If you desire to take control of your mental health, this is a great place to start.

Very Practical
Mental Health Hacks, by Angie Read, is a super practical guide to handling and overcoming anxiety and depression. What I really like about the book is that it is written from the perspective of a person who has battled severe depression while overcoming a traumatic stroke in the brain. Many books like this are written from a medical perspective and are hard to understand, but this book is very hands-on, easy to understand, and the author connects with the listener right away. I like her 10 practical hacks to help with this, especially the part about exercise and proper rest. I highly recommend this book.
