About this listen

BE WHO YOU ARE.

When people look at Melissa, they think they see a boy named George. But she knows she's not a boy. She knows she's a girl. Melissa thinks she’ll have to keep this a secret forever. Then her teacher announces that their class play is going to be Charlotte's Web. Melissa really, really, REALLY wants to play Charlotte. But the teacher says she can't even try out for the part... because she's a boy.

With the help of her best friend, Kelly, Melissa comes up with a plan. Not just so she can be Charlotte—but so everyone can know who she is, once and for all.

Lovely listen

This is really lovely. Really well painted recognisable characters and a great insight into an experience that isn't talked about enough. Great narration too.

A Beautiful Story

Really hits home how hard and lonely being a trans kid can be. It's a beautiful story and heartbreaking at times. Should be read by every trans kid and their parents.

The Cutest

OMG This was the cutest middle grade book. This book should be a staple in all schools. I loved Jamie Clayton as Narrator. Well Done to Audible for getting a transwoman to narrate the story. Was there anything I disliked about this book. Yeah, it wasn't longer.

a must read for trans joy

really enjoyed this sweet little book. To be so brave at that age, and to be greeted with kindness and empathy when you fear the worst. Jamie Clayton's performance reading it was wonderful.
