Philosophy that grounds you

Picked this up after a recommendation from Ryan Holiday.
Is a great gem and something I listen to once a week at least.
Highly recommended. A classic in Stoic philosophy narrated by a calm yet firm(Stoic?) voice.

Ancient wisdom sounds like every self help book

If only I had known that meditations was Roman for unstructured rambling on life. It's not necessarily bad it's just all very cliché to my jaded millennial ears. Live in the moment, don't sweat the small stuff, remember that nothing is permanent. I was hoping for a perspective I hadn't heard before.

Informative but dull narrative, I didn't get through much of the book as it made me want to sleep after 5 mins everytime I put it on. I understand the style and the language is true to its time but I definitely think the narrative could be improved and draw more interest
