Summary

An Adepta Sororitas novel.

In the wake of the war for Ophelia VII, Battle-Sister Evangeline of the Order of Our Martyred Lady embarks on a crusade into the darkness that lies beyond the Great Rift, seeking vengeance and revelation, but surviving the journey will only be the first and most simple test of her faith.

Listen to It Because: Delve into Imperium Nihilus with a tale of faith and fury that looks at the nature of the Adepta Sororitas and their place in the new Dark Imperium.

The Story: With the birth of the Cicatrix Maledictum the Imperium of Mankind suffers as never before. Conflict and corruption is rife on every front and precious little hope remains, save for those who hold to their faith when faced with destruction....

Denied a martyr’s death during the battle for Ophelia VII, Sister Evangeline of the Order of Our Martyred Lady is blessed with a new and grave duty: to embark on a pilgrimage beyond the Great Rift to recover a precious and powerful artefact - the Shield of Saint Katherine. Accompanied by the enigmatic Inquisitor Ravara, who seeks her own closure in the veiled regions beyond the Rift, Evangeline must find a way to bear the weight of this unasked-for destiny if she and her Sisters are to succeed in restoring a fragment of light to this new dark Imperium.

Ok but there are better

The best part is the details about the Necron.
The rest is ok but not going to make me care about the sisterhood.

A predictable end that takes too long to arrive.

Felt like it could have been a third the length. Wasn't a fan of some of the voices chosen for the characters. Particularly some of the supporting Sisters who sounded like they were 11.

Mark of Quality

wow, gripping story with twists I did not see coming. Both narrators do a great job. I love how you get some events from both points of view, giving some interesting insights in how the Sisters and the Inquisition might look upon certain things. Recommended!

A phenomenal audiobook

Absolutely one of my favorite WH40K books! The twin narration worked beautifully and the story was such a delight to hear! 10/10

great narration

Great narration and great storey until the end where normal humans take out gene forged warp infused rubricae and a sorcerer, where great astartes wouldn't be able to it was abit to farfetched.

Might read better than it sounds

Enjoyable story but jarring narration with a few significant mispronunciations of key franchise words that really stick out (aquila / akeela) and more singing than you'd expect in an average book. If you can cope with that it's worth a listen.
