About this listen

In the North Pacific Ocean there is an island that has been forgotten by mankind. Living there are men who have committed all manner of moral crimes. Deceived by an elaborate ruse, they wake deep within fortress walls where they are tortured, brainwashed, and then trained to physical perfection. When they are finally released to the island's hills and abandoned streets, they are told one simple rule: Survive long enough and you will be sent home. The island's only other inhabitants are women.

In Man Hunt, survival of the fittest means being literally hunted. It is Lord of the Flies meets hard-core feminism, because it tells both sides of the story.

Serious cliffhanger ending

I thought the book was well intended in highlighting the reality of what women go through at the hands of some men, basing some of the characters on real life criminals. The revenge & re-educational stance the women took with the bad men was understandable within the scheme of the story. But it felt a little unbelievable when you look at the mechanics of how they actually abducted, transported (through airports) and kept large amounts of men in line. I thought it was weird that once the women established themselves as overlords, most of them wanted to physically look like men. The female top dog had a weird thing about wanting her upper body to look like a man, but have a feminine looking lower body. The whole female establishment reminded me of a nunnery. The author also didn't address spicy activities on part of the females.

I certainly found the book interesting which kept my attention throughout, but not till the very end. The book is a mystery because you never get to the bottom of anything. It ends on a crazy cliffhanger so open and unresolved, that it probably puts people off from continuing with the series. I would hope that the author has some firm answers in book 2

The narrator does a good job voicing the various characters.
